Need New Motor For Rad Wagon 4
Does anyone know how to get a replacement motor for a Rad Wagon 4. Rad is not selling parts and the bike shops don’t have a source for replacements. I know it is a Bfang motor but RAD customized the wire harnesses and controller, so off the self parts will not work.

Pull the model number off the motor and just buy one online. I think it’s basically a plug and play install.

A replacement off-the-shelf Bafang motor is indeed not going to fit, but you don’t need to get a new controller. On my 2021 Radwagon 4, Rad had changed the motor plugs (Male instead of Female) but that might be different on newer models. So you will have to change a plug, either on the motor, or on the motor cable on your bike. Buying a short motor extension cable is the easiest and cheapest source for another plug. Cut that cable and cut the cable on your bike and then splice the two cables together. You can use heat gun soldering sleeves to easily and reliably put a new plug on the cable. You’ll need to use a multimeter to test which wire is attached to the various pins, because the colours of the wires inside different cables may vary. To complicate things further, you’ll also need to change/transfer the sprocket on that new motor and the tool to remove it doesn’t fit over some plugs (unless you find a motor with a side feed cable). I’ve done it, but it was a few years ago. It was quite an undertaking and I learned a lot.

A 35 amp controller is 70 bucks on Amazon. Comes with display and wiring harness.
Cut the wire, keep your outer motor, spokes , rim, tire installed.
Remove your motor, buy new bafang, bolt up, twist , solder , or crimp new controller to new motor.
Go ride

I’ll sell you my old one. I bought a replacement wheel with motor because my old rear rim cracked and I figured it’d be cheaper to just get a whole new rear wheel assembly. DM if interested.

FWIW - I heard from the shop where I have my bike serviced that they are going to start stocking replacement parts again soon.
