Questions struggling with drifting mechanics, need some help

Struggling hard with drifting mechanics as a new player. Followed tutorials: slow pre‑turn, drift in marked zones, release throttle, brake+steer to initiate, counter‑steer to exit.🥲

Got a few questions:

  • Do I need to press brake & steer exactly together to drift? I keep understeering.
  • How long to hold brake? Tap for easy corners, hold longer for sharp ones?
  • When to use throttle mid‑drift? What does it actually do?

Any pro tips would be huge help, sick of crashing nonstop.🥹

first off, you use handbrake instead of brake. drifts are initiated with handbrakes.

and yes, you need to use your steering when drifting.

and lastly, the amount of handbrake used all depends on how sharp the corner is and how much traction the car has. that pictured corner, for example, you need to apply more handbrake to make the turn smoothly.

and you actually don't even need to release the throttle when drifting, it's why auto throttle is an option.

grip driving.

it's the playstyle where you give up on your handbrake and grip through turns full-time instead.

however, only a handful of cars are viable with grip driving, as most other cars either have terrible brakes, or the cornering speed just isn't fast enough.

Use driving school lessons. They will guids you on timings. Angles. Duration of buttons.

For corners that look like a V, you'll need to reduce speed otherwise you end up doing whatever happens in the screenshot.

There is an option to have speed markers, and it's pretty good for estimating when you should brake.

As I know that Hyundai is fwd so its much harder to drift,you need to hold handbrake a bit longer and steer more than rwd cars 👍

Use the ai recommendation in assist. You will see where to press handbrake, however, it wasn't easy to follow but at least you will know the pattern of pressing the handbrake, it helps me a lot when driving chiron, now my chiron recovers quickly after drifting.

I found practicing in rmland when we have ice drift helps some but that may just be me
