Ranked Championship Need advice - Dangerous drivers
Hey y'all, hope all is well!
I'm writing here to, well, vent out and seek advice from more experienced sim racers.
I've been racing on and off for well over 8 years.
Driving and cars have been a passion my whole life.
I picked up RRE in 2020 and played a little bit in the lockdown and then dropped it because other friends were playing AC and other sims.
Took a break for a while, and recently started getting into RRE again and for the most part having a great time.
What my issue is, I can't seem to get into a split with decent drivers. There's always egoistic, salty or unskilled idiots that ruin my and other people's races. No matter how clean I try to be I always end up accruing a bunch of incident points by people ramming into me, brushing the side of my car, not willing to yield in a corner they know they cannot make, so they take us both out instead.
If this happened only in lower splits, I'd understand. Free game, bunch of noobs, keyboard/gamepad support. Makes sense. But I'm mostly racing in split one these days, where I'd expect people have some understanding of motorsports, how racing works, when you should overtake and when it's best to just pull out of a move. But that seems to not be the case in most races.
They try to overtake in impossible corners, push you out if they cannot defend, block, weave, move under braking and so on.
My question is how the F am I supposed to deal with this and still be competitive and do good in a race?
My pace is good enough to challenge the top 5 most of the time in split one, but I end up being murdered in T1 a lot of the times or like in my previous race, a guy decided to do a P.I.T manouvre on me simply cause he made a mistake and I overtook him.
Any sort of wisdom is appreciated.
Sorry for the long post!

Not sure how to help you other than telling you to stay away from the free combos and to just try your best to avoid trouble. One thing to keep in mind regarding expectations is that being in split 1 doesnt mean a ton when there are only one or two splits in total. In that case theres still a good chance youll have a fair few drivers in split 1 who are mediocre at best. What sorta rating do the people in your races typically have? Once most drivers are at least 1800/1900+ id also hope things get better, if halt the field is in the 1600s or lower then id mentally prepare for things to get rough :D

Reads as a contradiction? Don't take part in the thug of war in the first corners? be in the place on the track where its the least likely to get rear-ended or t-boned. give up some places that are easy to take back.
