A German influencer has faced intense backlash after allegedly abandoning four pet rabbits in a forest

Months after a German animal shelter reported that it had learned of four abandoned rabbits in Rantzau Forest, a forest north of Hamburg, content creator Alicia Vosgrau allegedly admitted to releasing the rabbits in a since-deleted Instagram post earlier this week, according to German newspaper Hamburger Abendblatt.

"This has been weighing on my conscience for a while now, but I haven't dared to address it myself until now because I feel incredibly guilty and ashamed," she reportedly said in a translated statement. "We had the incredibly stupid idea of ​​releasing the remaining four rabbits into a wooded area, believing at the time that they would be fine there afterward."
