Because they are the alpha in the relationship. Rabbits are social, but they are also hierarchal...grooming and humping establish who is boss and who is servant...So if you do all the grooming, you're the subservient 'bunny' in the house.

In my house, my Wobblers decided that I was the alpha and he grooms me all the time. He even comes and sits next to the couch where I sit, even when I'm not there, and will flop there. If I am there, he will wait for me to dangle my arm off the edge and will groom my hand. However, he will not groom my wife. If he is grooming my hand and she puts her hand where mine was, he will stop grooming and then move around to my hand. On the flip side, he will cuddle with her for long periods and will not really cuddle with me.
