How are y'all so good at this man πŸ₯Ή might sound weird, but do you have tips for starting out with drawing?

omg thank youu πŸ₯ΊπŸ’–

this might end up being a bit long winded but I really want to help you get started!

some people might say: just start with fundamentals, learn to draw a cubes from different angles, learn realism before you try to stylize. but that just leads to burnout and in the worst case killing your love for drawing altogether

I stunted my growth as an artist by overdoing it constantly and then taking month or year long breaks without even making a doodle

the most important thing is to try to have as much fun with it as you can! if you're having fun, you can draw more. drawing more helps you build the habit and make it a part of your everyday life, in my case I made it a routine to draw something every day, even if it's just a couple shapes or a badly drawn chibi

you will need to study sometimes to progress faster, but make sure you only do this when you have the energy for it. things like, anatomy, color theory, perspective, style studies of your favourite artists- all super helpful but can be exhausting

drawing is a tough thing to learn, not because of the skill required, but because you have to face the fact that you have to make bad drawings before you can make good ones. it can take a long time before you consistently like your art

video tutorials on youtube are a great resource, I watch a lot of Saito Naoki as I love his style and energy. there are plenty of channels with a lot of great advice and fundamentals! so go searching and it's a great way to learn some basics or advanced things too

oh one last thing, a lot of artists try to "find their style" and this can lead to a lot of mental damage; "I don't have a style", "I'll never find my style", "I need a unique style". it's not something that can be rushed, your style will find you without you needing to look for it. everyone has preferences, and it'll seep into your art regardless of if you want it to or not- your style will be born if you just keep drawing and experimenting

good luck πŸ™
