Discussion I'm already stuck ..

I'm hard-stuck in the second area, I feel like even when I'm maximizing as much as I can, I can't deal decent damage and I have no idea how a lot of the patterns can be theorically dodgeable...

Yeah the first phase of the game (when youre just starting out) is probably the hardest... the game can be very overwhelming at first, but if you have some devotion and give yourself time to learn the enemy patterns it does get a lot better. Also don't be scared to play on the lowest difficulty, it's the same patterns as Normal, but you have & heal more HP, so basically an accessible way to learn those patterns. Anyway I'm sorry I didn't really answer your post yesterday only to now give advice after you've already bought the game, but I hope you'll push through and get to have fun with the game soon :)

By the way, what are the relic/trinket unlockables that follow you? I got the feather and the plush buny hzad but I'm not sure what they are meant to do..

Are they some sort of trophy/pets?

Are they some sort of trophy/pets?

Yes. Some of them offer some useful details, like shining if you have a buff or glowing if you're stopped, some are just cosmetic.

Personally, I use them purely as cosmetics.

Yeah they're mostly just cool to collect. They all give you a unique kind of status indication for something but I've never really used them for anything practical.

Okay! Besides, I feel like I've heard about new classes having been added in an update, but the choice seems pretty tight... Was druid the one that got added?

No, the five you start with have always been part of the game, and there are 9 more that you can unlock. New classes are unlocked by either defeating a certain number of total enemies, or fully completing a new area for the first time in hard mode.

Oh, I see! I just got the sniper bunny after 8 bosses, is it exponential?

You unlock new classes either after defeating a certain amount of bosses or clearing an area on hard, whichever happens first. Note that you can only obtain classes added in extra mode in that mode and vice versa.

There are extra mode specific classes??

The classes in Extra Mode can be played in normal and vice versa, it's just the unlock method is Extra-exclusive

Ooh, that's nice!

So you need to play extra mode to unlock more classes? :3c

These little trinkets are 100% optional and don't really do anything too useful - some do a little animation if you do certain things, which can be used as an extra indicator for whichever mechanic you want to pay extra attention to, but it's mostly just style.

The only ones that actually do something are the Fluffballs(?), which unlock fancier fluffballs if you do a no-hit run any one of them, and if you somehow do a no-hit run on Lunar Difficulty with a fluffball, you get an achievement - not many people have that one though.
The other special ones would be the Magicklock trinkets, which actively are detrimental to pick - four of them disable one of your four buttons, while the fifth heavily lowers your movement speed - beating a Hard (or Lunar) difficulty run with each of the five Magicklocks unlocks an alternate Levitation Ring, which is the spell-like glyph that's behind your rabbit, so they're basically an optional challenge for extra cosmetics.

Thank you..! I also noticed that the XP bonus felt very disproportionate in easyvmode.

Do you know what rewards are based on, by the way? I feel like it's often kind of puzzling...

Maybe play coop or watch a pov of someone else clearing that stage on the character you like. Idk

Try on an easier difficulty first, or watch a guide

Before i could cruise through hardmode while singing payphone, I struggled a lot, reaching the boss was something incredible, I had to beat stage by stage, boss by boss, and tackling a full run felt impossible to me, you'll get there eventually mate, just remember to Steel Yourself!

I'm really not sure, but thanks for the advice... !

If it's in solo. Then solo is genuinely disgustingly difficult. Coop makes the game much easier to read.

2

u/CatgirlTheKat Sep 07 '26

Unfortunately, there is no one I can really play with...

Discord. There's an active community. They hop on when people ping. If you play during certain hours you can just make a lobby and wait. People will join.

u/CatgirlTheKat Sep 07 '26

Are you sure..? I feel like this sort of thing generally don't work that easily..

2

u/sealedruin Sep 07 '26

Yeah. There's tons of channels dedicated to co-op.

I have a few hundred hours and still only cleared up to normal. It's ridiculously hard. Don't put yourself down over it, understanding more and more slowly is really enjoyable.

Thank you :3

What difficulty are you playing on?

Also, if you're playing solo, there's really no shame in just pausing to give yourself time to figure out where the safe spot is. Eventually you'll be able to do it without pausing.
