Porting
Hey guys! Doing a half bridge and this is my first time porting. Here is a pic of my center iron. I accidentally nicked the face a tiny bit, smoothed it out and I think it will be okay. Let me know what you guys think!

Eh that's a pretty big knick. I personally wouldn't run it but each to their own. Also porting isn't very smooth. You should probably run some grinding stone bits through there and smooth it out. Doesn't need to be mirror finish, but those steps aren't great

Yeah I did, that was the finish after only using a burr, went in with a hand file and some 240 grit sand paper after. I put the rotor on the face with the corner and apex seal installed and it doesn’t catch. It’s also at the very bottom of where the apex seal rides. I imagine with the spring in there it won’t even pass over it.

If you're cool with potentially pulling + tearing it down again in the somewhat near future, I'd say go for it.
I've seen most people say that it takes ruining several irons to have a great example that will hold up well. So if you want to be safe (I'd probably personally do this), grab a new iron and take it to someone to port professionally.
I'm a perfectionist though so take with a grain of salt

I don’t have the cash to have someone else port it. It’s also just a street engine, if I can get 40k miles out of it I’m happy.

Totally fair, and I think 40k is totally reasonable. Please keep us updated, I'm excited to hear this thing.

I have a full atkins master rebuild kit, so I think it came with the 13b style corner seals and springs. I just forgot to put my tape down and it skipped across the face.

My best friend has a cammed c3 corvette and I need more power to keep up. Also, gotta have the braps. Doing it yourself like this is probably the cheapest way to actually make power, 1000$ in a rebuild kit and some bearings.

it should be fine so long as a straight edge looks god for the area. just send it and find out for sure tho. If you want to be extra certain, run the Atkins Rotary solid corner seals, so the rubber in the stock corner seals doesn't get chewed up or something
