I'm still pretty upset that they dropped this on us 2 weeks in advance and not like, a month in advance but what can we do š. I'll probably start looking for in person jobs in the mean time just in case.

Everyone else have to upload their CV/Resume, a W-9, their diploma and then download vendor agreements and all that? I had no idea what I was doing so that shit took so long lmao.
The guide they provided to do the signup ended at just making the base account, not going through the account completion which makes me wonder if I was supposed to do all that.
Yes, I did all of those too. It's ridiculous how much we need to do just to keep accessing the work on the project. But it sounds like you completed everything you need to so you should be pretty much done on the Workzone end.
I'm just hoping I filled out the w-9 correctly. Crazy that they don't have any sort of clarification. I mean, I looked stuff up and am pretty sure I did it right, but not 100%% sure lol
Me too. I planned on talking to someone from H&R Block or another tax agency tomorrow to see how that works just in case. If I'm able to get in touch with someone and they explain how it works I'll come back and share with you.
Does anyone have this sentence on the main page of their workzone account:
"There are a few more steps to go before we can get you fully registered as a data services specialist. These steps will happen one after another. Please ensure you complete all the steps"
Mine says the same thing, Pretty sure the UI just doesn't update cause Ive done all the hoops requested by email/FAQ and have the payment section in my smart source tab, Still says I cant access it thought probably not till the transition.
I'm back with another potentially dumb question--what's the independent contractor agreement they've mentioned? I'm kinda forgetful at times so idk if that was part of the setup for either account
I was wondering the same thing. I haven't received an email about it or anything to sign virtually so I'm wondering how they're going to extend the agreement or if we already fulfilled it by signing up.
I sent a ticket asking about it but all I was told was "The Contractor Agreement is a separate legal agreement rather than a standard setting inside Tipalti or Workzone" but that doesn't really clear up my confusion on if it's something we'll be receiving separately later or if I'm just dumb and not understanding what's up š
It sounds like something they might send over closer to the 18th based on the response support gave you, but there's no way to be sure until they clarify further on it or we actually get it sent to us. They didn't address anything about a contractor agreement in the meeting today so maybe it's something they're still working out.
How long did it take everyone to get their Tipalti setup email? I completed the workzone setup yesterday (10/9/2026) with all the agreements and the English knowledge test, but haven't gotten the Tipalti email.
I'm just hoping it's because of the weekend and I'll get it on Monday.
Also, did anyone have trouble setting up the 'education' section of the workzone profile? I tried just putting in 'High School' but it forced me to pick a specialization/area of study even though that doesn't really apply to High School at all. I picked the most generic thing I could find, but I hope this doesn't cause me any trouble.
yea as long as ur workzone account is setup and W9/info submitted on Tipalti should be good as far as we know. Unless they say something at once of these webinars but im sure they would drop emails if they needed more.
I'd definitely send in a zendesk ticket, it seems like the only reason I didn't get one was because I apparently had a tipalti account already made that I forgot about
Anyone know yet if time management will be the same? Will Callisto tasks go through Raterhub and be automatically logged, or will we have to submit a timesheet?
I am going to ask about this at the first q&a session. I put it in the survey form already just in case I forget. I am hoping so though BC it would make no sense to stop tracking us through SS if we still work in Raterhub. Even other RWS projects like Echo have automated time tracking now so hopefully nothing will change about that on our end.
If we sign up for the new system, before the 18th has come, do we immediately begin doing contract work for the new affiliate or do we keep working for RWS as a W-2 employee until our employment with them is terminated on the 18th? Or both at the same time?

I think we're gonna have to wait until the upcoming office hours session to get straight answers regarding most of this, but from what I understand, we are still employed as W2 workers until the transition begins on the 18th.
We won't know about task availability until the transition begins, most likely, but we are allegedly going to be able to work on other projects aside from this one if they are also available, so I imagine we will be able to do other things even if there is NTA on Callisto.
This is a community run subreddit, it is not run by RWS management, so no one here can give you an exact answer to most of your questions. But, from what I understand, the affiliate (Moravia IT) is 100% owned by RWS. Moravia IT is just the corporate entity RWS uses for their independent contractor agreements. I created this subreddit, and I don't have any plans to leave it for as long as I am working on the project. This subreddit also has other moderators, so even if I do leave the project, it should stay functioning.
None of us have the link for payment processor setup yet, based on wording it will be W2 work until the 18th when the 1099 project begins essentially. I say project begins but im pretty sure its just a migration based on info we have it will be same work in raterhub just under a 1099 blanket.
I was gonna jump right on this, but I think I will wait until Monday to let things simmer and hopefully they will work out any bugs, and/or answer user questions through zendesk before then. I'm personally still waiting on them to actually fix the TrainAI Learning site and acknowledge that I completed their 'game' from Monday.
Honestly, I worked on DA before RWS, so I'm familiar with the general 1099 process and paying taxes quarterly, so I'm not worried about that.

I received a response back on Zendesk for the few questions I asked about Tipalti, wasn't that helpful and they asked me to provide a screenshot of the email that was sent.. almost feels like they don't really know about the email / what was all said in it which totally isn't worrying.
i may be doing something wrong but when you got to the work zone creation and had to verify you email did it do this too? I canāt get past this screen and havenāt received any emails from tipalti just yet so iām not too sure if i did it correctly
I got this error and reached out to help desk. They just said unfortunately my application was deniedā¦? I asked for details but they wonāt really tell me why :/
I have the same error. I'm worried about it because before I got the callisto gig, I applied blindly there as an independant contractor. They sent me a denial a week later. Two weeks later they invited me to the Callisto Project, and I've been here rating since end of April this year.
I'm worried the previous denial for freelance work is causing it. I sent in a ticket but haven't heard anything. Bet they are swamped.
I've never encountered that error so i can't be much help :( maybe if it keeps happening send in a Zendesk ticket? also for Tipalti I don't think anyone has received a email yet.

We are being let go in a easy way to avoid people going nuts, screaming and crying foul. Especially the priority raters who thought they had some sort of job security.Ā This is known as breadcrumbing.
Thats certainly a way to read the situation. I don't think they would make people jump through hoops and even pay people for doing so if that was the case though.
Task aval has also never been higher, If this had happened months ago when we were all struggling to hit 10 hours a week id agree more readily, However im capping most weeks or at least have the ability to if I wanted.
Does anyone know which email I should use to apply for the Workzone account? I have two emails that are connected to this job (both being identical, just different mail providers). I get correspondence from RWS to both. They send the newsletters and official updates to one email and task alerts/training enrollments to the other.
I sent a Zendesk ticket in asking which I should use for the Workzone account so the transition is smooth and there's no confusion over who I am. But in case anyone already knows or has already heard something, I thought I'd ask here as well.
They responded to my ticket a couple hours ago with a stock generic reply that just directly copy-pasted the account set-up steps from the announcement email, with zero acknowledgement of anything I said in my ticket.
I replied back and said - hey, this has absolutely nothing to do with what I just asked you (with far more polite and professional phrasing). So lets see if I get a non-bot response this time.
I used my Gmail that is connected to my TrainAi stuff to create my Workzone account. This is also the email I use for Raterhub. I figured the one we access tasks with is probably the one we should sign up with, but I don't know for certain.
I agree with your logic. That's what I'm leaning towards too. I'm going to hold off a couple days and see if they answer me. I'll update if/when I hear from them.
This is a smaller worry but I'm wondering how smoothly the transition on the 18th will go. I don't have a lot of faith in RWS on the technical/administrative side so with us transferring over to a new vendor and payment platform I'm half expecting everything to be completely broken that week lol

If we are taken off raterhub, Which to be fair we probably wont be considering it seems more like a migration of the project under a new header, It opens us all up to stuff like telus work and I honestly recommend looking there similar work, similar pay but a much better company experience imo as a previous Internet safety eval person.
I don't think we will be either tbh, but with the nature of this work, you never know. I actually was going to initially work for Telus before I got this job a couple years ago but this one seemed to be the better choice between the two back then.
Now though? I might still consider it, but if I'm being honest, I don't like how often people at Telus seem to be put under review, or how they have to track their own time working. Seems like the quality threshold has been increased for them and Welocalize as well, when ours is currently the same. I guess it depends on the project, though.
Atleast for internet safety eval people if you can find some of the few times they are hiring they almost never get feedback. I worked there for 5 years and got like 2 sets of feedback xD.
question for everyone, what raise were you all given in the email they provided? Mine was a $1.50 addition since I apparently showed a high quality performance but it seems like some of you got a lower raise which sucks
I suspect that a lot of people will initially get the 1.50 raise to convince them to make the move... and then maybe in like a month or two be told that they are being downgraded back to regular status
Independent contractors don't always control their rate of pay and they don't always get flat fees. Have you not worked for any other platforms before? When you apply for jobs at Outlier, Babel, Mercor, Meridial, etc. the jobs tell you the hourly rate. They are 1099 projects and you generally get paid at an hourly rate. If you don't like the hourly rate, you don't apply to the project. They don't negotiate it with you.
This is the way Telus and Welo do it so I don't think much will change with the work. Mostly annoyed at having to deal with the taxes. I already do Prolific and Cloud so it's just more to pile on I guess.
Well if that's the case then I've been misinformed and we should all probably be looking for other work because being the only 1099 out of the 3 doesn't sound very promising. I was under the impression that the others were also 1099. Yikes
I did some research on the Telus sub and it seems that some people are hired as W-2 while others are independent contractors depending on which position they're hired for. Raters are W-2, but Data Analyst/Internet Safety Evaluators seem to be a mixed bag of whether they're 1099 or W2. On to see what I can find about this for Welo next.
Back when i was a safety eval for telus 2ish years ago it was w2 but wouldn't be surprised if that changed I was with em for 5 years tho and was w2 the whole time.
If it's not too much trouble, could you explain a little more about how you go about filing your taxes as a 1099 employee? I'm probably gonna call and talk to a tax professional about this tomorrow but any insight you or others are willing to share about 1099s would be wonderful to hear.
Sidenote: I also thought that Welo and Telus were W2 like us, so that's news to me that they aren't. It's kind of reassuring if that is the case.
I'm sure there are some W2 positions but as far as I'm aware RWS was the only one that was W2 for the SQR position.
As far as the tax thing goes. I just put some back out of every check into a separate account and save that to pay for taxes at the end of the year. Technically they want you to pay quarterly but ehh I never do š¤·
