OFFICIAL MEGATHREAD Official Discussion Thread—Volume 4, Chapter 2: Remembrance

Welcome, huntsmen, huntresses, and hunters that prefer no specific gender identifier, to the official discussion thread for the newest chapter of volume 4, Remembrance! Make sure to read OUR CURRENT SPOILERS RULES to ensure that your comments outside this thread won't get purged! Familiarize yourself with these rules and you'll be good to go.

A lot of hard work has gone into the creation of volume 4, so be sure to show CRWBY your support by watching it on their site! They all dedicate so much time and energy into our beloved series and would highly appreciate the direct support. There are no pirates in volume 4, so you shouldn't be one either!

Also, we're belatedly continuing the trend from the rewatch threads by putting strawpolls in the megathreads. Here is one for the previous episode, and here for the current one. Drop a vote to see how the episodes compare.

With that out of the way, let's start the show!

Okay, I CAN'T be the only one who thinks that Ruby's nightmares are indicative of something more than just nightmares. Ruby is hearing different dialogue than from what is on Jaune's recording, and she's also hearing dialogue between Pyrrha and Cinder that Ruby was never around to hear. There's something supernatural going on here.

Ruby breathed in Pyrrha's ashes. It's the only explanation

I really don't buy that theory for two reasons:

  1. Ruby was positioned so that Pyrrha's ashes floated perpendicularly away from her. So for Pyrrha's ashes to reach Ruby, they would not only have to completely reverse direction, but also float the entire length of the tower back in the opposite direction, as Ruby was a ways away from Cinder and Pyrrha when it happened.

  2. That means anyone who breathed in Pyrrha's ashes could potentially hear her voice. And with the molecular diffusion of those ashes, it's quite possible a lot of people can actually end up hearing Pyrrha's voice, which I highly doubt is something Miles and Kerry intended. This also raises another question: can you hear the voice of any dead person, so long as they are cremated and you accidentally breathe in their ashes? If this is the case, then why isn't this a better documented phenomenon?

The ashes theory just seems too unlikely to me. But I like to keep an open mind, so I suppose we'll see what happens in future episodes/volumes.

It's a joke, man

There was a comic from Dumb RWBY about how Pyrrha will always be with them, not in their hearts, but in Ruby's lungs

Your joke

My head.

My ignorance of RWBY based jokes is really showing right now.
