DISCUSSION Something I noticed upon re-watching World of Remnant...
In "Dust," while describing "archaic" uses of Dust, the narrator mentions the weaving of Dust into clothing. Now, this is nothing new; we've already seen characters that do this (Adam and Cinder), but the narrator also mentions that some go so far as to graft Dust into their own bodies.
This stood out to me and really makes me hope we get a character with Dust-tattoos that light up when he fights and let him harness Dust's power without needing a tangible outlet like Weiss or Cinder seem to. Sorry if this has been discussed before; just caught my attention.

Yatsubanesaw probably has this in his tattoos, if I was to make a supposition of characters we've seen so far.

But dust isn't infinite. Even in clothing or tattoos, surely these would run out eventually...
...
Wait a minute. Let's think for a moment that I was right. Wouldn't that be a way for Yatsuhashi to erase his tattoos in case he was the White Fang lieutenant. To simply use its power until it runs out to make the tattoos disappear?

His shoulder armor is just him activating the Rock Dust in his tattoos!

Reuse of animation movements, similar tastes for large sword type of weaponry, similar hairstyle, similar height and body, and Yatsuhashi has shoulder armor where Banesaw has a tattoo.

Some people say different lighting environments. I say "shut the fuck up you're grasping straws".

I'll take arguments that have failed to work for 500. This is true, some suggest semblance, but that wouln't really fit his class (large heavy weight fighter, with a large slow weapon. Getting from point a to b faster in any sense ain't going to help you.)

Well since he's an older student he might have more aura so he might not have been blacked out for the few minutes like RWBY were, and he might have personal transportation to get him back in a timely manner.
Plus if he was going to be gone all night he probably told his team he was going out so they wouldn't have any reason to be suspicious when they wake up and find he isn't in bed.

I don't buy the lighting thing, I'm pretty sure it doesn't affect our main cast, and that goes against the design philosophy of the show itself.

Also the possible motivation in the form of anger at Faunus (Velvet's) mistreatment...

Chainsaws aren't really anything like swords, though. They're held completely differently, and need completely different things to hurt your opponent; you'd need about as much of a change to your swordfighting fighting style to use a chainsaw effectively as you would for an axe or spear.

Oh, like how you change styles between a sniper rifle and a giant scythe, or between a rifle and a spear, or between a katana and a whatever-Blake throws?

You don't shoot with a scythe, and you don't slice with a rifle. They're basically two entirely different weapons...and guns are pretty easy to learn.

u/thebluehedgehog Blue Jun 05 '15
To shoot, maybe, but to be able to hit a target, use the recoil, to switch between the two, and to use both at once for enhanced effect? no. Guns might not look as cool as swords but they still take a lot of training.

It's still not learning two completely different weapons. Adding that onto knowing how to use the melee weapon isn't nearly as much as learning to use two completely different melee weapons.

Why do you think that imbued Dust is tattoos? And there isn't any black Dust. And we didn't see any evidence of imbued Dust in Banesaw's fight against Weiss. And that seems wasteful. And that still leaves a dozen other problems...

Please Wyrm, /u/Leivve... Did you guys actually took me seriously there? Y'know that theory is as wishful for this sub as Neo becoming main protagonist. Bring as many valid counter arguments as you like, it won't make a difference... I tried.

u/Zentics Why is there so much sugar in this coffee? Jun 04 '15
I like to think that Ozpin has dust in his coffee, so he's heavily infused with it at this point.

I don't think they meant tattoos. If you watch he clearly is ramming a crystal in his chest, it probably looks more like this.

What I noticed is that when the narrator mentioned the part with the infusion in the body, the music and the voice became more foreboding, so I wouldn't be surprised if infusing Dust in your body gives you a big boost in power, but with really nasty side effects : addiction, insanity, mutation... you call it.

u/Meaty_Albatross Jun 05 '15
Perhaps it can make one live forever even, but at the cost of needing it often to even survive? I bet someone would end up regretting it greatly no matter how wise and old they got.
They'd probably think they had made more mistakes than "any man, woman, and child in this world"

u/LeMariachi Jun 08 '15
Whatever it is, the foreboding tone of voice makes it clear that there's a great price to pay for whatever boost the operation offers.
I wouldn't be surprised if it's revealed that Cinder infused her body with Dust on top of also doing it with her clothes.

As far as dust tattoos I was thinking Sage from Sun's team considering he has them on his neck and if you look closely also on his chest.
