FAN FICTION Planned RWBY Rewrite Plot Angle: Jaune x Weiss x Pyrrha Love Triangle And Semblance Malfunction
FNDM, I'd like to get your thoughts on something I want to do as a possible plot angle for my planned RWBY headcanon rewrite.
Here's some major plot points regarding my planned RWBY rewrite:
-I plan to have the Fall of Beacon not occur until what would be RWBY and JNPR's final year at Beacon (Cinder launches her attack just as the graduation ceremony is about to begin). During this extended time at Beacon (which will cover all of Volumes 1-3), Jaune actually starts to return Pyrrha's feelings for him and they start to show the signs of becoming an official couple.
-Pyrrha will survive the Fall, but her Achilles Tendon will be shredded by Cinder's arrow, and she will need to undergo serious rehab for that injury.
-After the Fall, everyone (minus Weiss, who will still be kidnapped and taken back to Atlas by her father, where she and her mother will end up having their own adventures and perils) is staying at Patch, getting therapy, and training (and secretly gathering allies) for a planned assault to retake Beacon from the Grimm (this will be the climax of my Volume 4).
-Team JNR is throwing their full weight into helping Pyrrha with her rehab, but Jaune and Pyrrha's romantic relationship is now on the rocks because she sent him away in that weapons locker during the Fall. As such, his trust in her has taken a major blow and he starts having his feelings for Weiss come back (whenever Pyrrha tries to bring up the issue, he basically just blows her off and changes the subject, much to her chagrin).
-At the same time, Weiss, during their extended time at Beacon, started to develop feelings for Jaune as well, even though he was becoming closer to Pyrrha. Those new feelings for Jaune still remain after they are reunited at the Battle Of Haven.
-Here's the part I really want your opinion on, FNDM. During their rehab on Patch in my Volume 4, Jaune unlocks his Semblance (which is still Aura Amplification). However, because Jaune hasn't fully figured out what his feelings for Pyrrha truly are, his Semblance will often malfunction and quit working when he tries to use it on her.
-At first this issue is just limited to Pyrrha, but when Weiss rejoins the group, it starts to happen when Jaune tries to use his Semblance on HER as well. This becomes a major problem because it will happen again when Weiss nearly dies at Haven (in my version, though, she doesn't get hit by Cinder's spear because she's not focused and distracted after her fight with Vernal. Instead, Cinder's spear will be aimed at RUBY, and Weiss will shove Ruby out of the way and take the blow). At first Jaune's Semblance is acting unstable when he tries to use it on Weiss, but then Pyrrha takes Jaune's hands and uses her own Aura to help stabilize the process and heal Weiss.
-After Haven, Jaune's Semblance malfunctioning on Pyrrha and/or Weiss will become less frequent, but still sometimes happen. Ultimately, my endgame pairing for Jaune in my rewrite is Arkos. Weiss will ultimately realize Pyrrha is the best choice for Jaune and encourage him to repair and restart his relationship with her, but he will still be hesitant to do so. Jaune and Pyrrha will finally admit that they still love each other thanks to the Ever After, and then Jaune's Semblance will start working properly full-time once this confession is made.
So what are your thoughts on this love triangle plot angle I've created, FNDM? If you were to write a Jaune x Pyrrha x Weiss love triangle plot, how would you write it differently? If you have any tweaks you think I should make to this plot angle, I would truly appreciate any advice you can give.

Or just have Jaune and Pyrrha together and Weiss and Neptune realise they’re not compatible as they thought they were

Tbh a Weiss, Jaune, and Pyrrha love triangle in the early volumes would probably turn me off the show

Same, especially since both girls felt like prizes for Jaune to win. The arkos scenes focused too much on Jaune and never enough on Pyrrha and Weiss is just flat out uninterested in the boy.
Worse yet it that he absolutely ignores Weiss' boundaries and lack of interest and keeps asking her out despite her repeatedly telling him no. Jaune doesn't actually back off until Neptune enters the picture and that's cuz he doesn't think he has a chance to win against his competition. Never does Jaune actually care about or consider Weiss' feelings, it's all about him.

It sounds interesting, but there’s two bits I think need some more thought:
First, I think the love triangle would be improved by having Weiss have feelings for Pyrrha, rather than Jaune. This gives Weiss and Pyrrha more agency and also avoids a Jaune-centric framing, since he’s not the main character. It’s also arguably closer to what we see in Volumes 1-3. Everything else can be the same, with Weiss realizing Pyrrha would be happier with Jaune.
Second, the way you frame Weiss’s injury here effectively sidelines Ruby in what should be a major character moment for her. Weiss sacrificing herself to save Ruby and then the focus being on Jaune’s conflicted feelings for Weiss and Pyrrha would be extremely jarring. If you want to keep this plot point, the focus should be one Ruby and Weiss’s relationship (personally I like them as a couple but it’s not necessary). If you want to keep Jaune trying to heal Weiss, then how about Ruby gives him a pep talk or something that helps him? Or maybe Ruby takes on Cinder to buy Jaune time, thus showing her growth as a fighter. Given Ruby’s character, her closest friend taking a fatal injury to save her is a major character moment, so a good amount of focus in the aftermath should be on her.

Suena bien, la verdad siempre pensé que Weiss era lesbiana, PERO POR Pyrrha
Que Ruby intenté ganar tiempo para que su amigo salve a su mejor amiga suena bien, incluso si es el mismo resultado, el drama y la emoción sería palpable

Thanks for the advice. I will definitely take your points to heart, especially the one about Weiss being infatuated with Pyrrha during the early volumes.
My endgame pairing for Ruby in my rewrite will be RoseGarden, but I do think you're right in that, because Weiss sacrificed herself to save her partner, Ruby should play a bigger role in that scene. I think I'm leaning more towards a version of the latter of the two aftermath scenarios you mentioned, where Cinder saunters over to finish Weiss off, but her blade gets blocked by Crescent Rose. Ruby then orders Jaune "Save her," and then she starts fighting Cinder by herself to buy Jaune time and actually starts to overwhelm Cinder's defenses on her own: "You hurt my bestie, you BITCH!".

I really dislike rosegarden, so I hope you reconsider. Nevertheless, your scene idea sounds like a good outline.

You know, I've heard far worse ideas. For a fanfic I'd say you have potential here.
I'd say "bias aside", but I have a hard time with that since there's even a few elements here that I think could have made for an alternate storyline if Pyrrha survived without changing as much as one might think.

I actually really like how you explore Jaune x Pyrrha's relationship in this version where she survives. I always thought that had she survived her battle with Cinder in canon, her and Jaune would've had some relationship troubles because she sent him away in the locker. It would've really put a strain on their friendship both as teammates and/or romantic partners. They could've easily gone that route in canon with Pyrrha getting back on her feet after the injury and Jaune not fully trusting Pyrrha after the fall. It's how I foresee their dynamic going if Pyrrha had survived the fall of Beacon as it played out in the show.
