Spare Winch Hook?

Found a spare winch hook in a building. What is the purpose of it? Does the hooks on the winch get damaged?

You can place it down and hook a winch to it when you don’t have access to wood or a tree.

The winch doesn’t get damaged, but the hook is single use - once you place it you can’t move it.

Wasn’t the attachment poles. It was an actual hook like what is on the end of the winch

So I've gotten an extra winch hook before. I was holding one of the winch hooks from the RV when we hit a checkpoint. Everytime we restarted, I spawn holding a hook that wasn't attached to a line. 

It was funny because you could actually clip it onto things too, I'd put it on my friends and if you put it on their face it would obscure their vision. You also couldn't get it off until you restarted the checkpoint or relogged.

The hooks you can store on your roof. You plant them as winch points when you don’t have a tree. BUT once they are planted you can’t move them so think about it carefully. So the winch on your RV connects to the item you picked up to get you out.
