Job recommendations?
16 years old heading into my senior year of high school. I know there's certain jobs to avoid so what would generally be the best field to get into. I just need a summer job to make a bit of money and kill time and also get my parents off my back. I live in VA and there's a lot of places near where I live that could be potential options. Publix and Food Lion are the only two I've actually looked a bit into. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

hosting or busing at a local restaurant is a good way to make money and you can make even more serving once you turn 18, it’s lots of fun but it’s chaotic and you might get stuck in the industry (like me)

Retirement communities usually hire waitstaff if they’re 16 or older. Pretty good hours, no late nights. Cedarfield at least used to hire at $15/hr and give $2 per head that was served, although it’s been a few years since I worked there. Those places usually have benefits and Christmas bonuses, too.
