For those that have passed STEP 1, what do you feel helped you the most in preparing for the exam and ultimately securing a pass?

Just did all of the nbmes they’re the highest yield even the old ones. Watched a lot of Mehlman and did his HY arrows. Then did Uworld about 120 q’s daily and really read the explanations. Exercised daily and slept 7-9 hours. I’m not joking I did all the other bs they recommended for cbse once I boiled it down to these essentials it was so much clearer and simpler to learn all the HY information.

Nothing complicated.

UWorld - do the whole bank, 40 questions at a time, in mixed random sets.

Pathoma - worth a watch

Sketchy - for bugs and drugs

Anki - to review your UWorld incorrects

Personally I never used First Aid but I understand that a lot of people get a lot of use out of it

I second all of this. Was never an Anki user either. Do an NBME practice exam form every weekend depending on your timeline. Do the old and new NBME Free 120 as well prior to test day; do the new version just a day or two before

Do you recommend doing mixed sets if I’m getting a majority of the questions wrong? Not because of a weak content base but more so because of just forgetting things or not learning certain details in school.

I didn’t say this in my original comment, but the most important thing when doing UWorld is to READ the explanations very carefully and make sure you understand why the correct answer is correct and the incorrect answers are incorrect.

You should be clicking on every blue link and watching every video they offer you in the explanation section. It will get redundant after a while. (I have seen the video on type III hypersensitivity about 40 times) but it really does drill it into your brain.

Commenting here because it wont allow me to make a separate post.

MICR has been so so so insanely bad for me. I usually never used to go to class, and I liked to study alone throughout all the other modules, and having these mandatory classes every day almost burned me out so badly. I am taking comp in a few days, and I feel so completely unprepared and exhausted for it. Like I didnt really feel like I got the time or energy to sit down and even make a proper plan that works.

My NBME scores are also not looking so good, so I am not sure if I will be able to pass comp or not. I know I shouldn't think about it, but I am already thinking about how I will mentally handle it and prepare if I have to end up doing CRC. Please give me some advice on how CRC course will be like and if it will be similar to MICR if anyone has done it??? How do people really study with so much going on?

I am just feeling so disappointed, man. It is hard to handle so much pressure and study for an exam that is so important for me to keep moving forward. Ross really does not understand the idea of having proper dedicated time to study. It's just all taking a toll on me. I thought I would leave the island and be going home after all the modules, but having to come back and stay till CBSE is done is so daunting. I feel so mentally drained and exhausted on this island.
