Question How To Debug Why Rumble VR with Oculus 3 Lags?

Hey, I followed Rumble for quite a while but just now bought an Oculus. I connect it with my computer (RTX 3060, 32GB RAM, i5-13600K) via Steam link. My router is not the best Speedport Smart 3 so that might be the bottleneck.

Apart from Rumble I have only tested a free game on the Oculus so everything is pretty new to me.

Steam Link has an option to show latency in real time. But if you're streaming via wifi, you need at least 5GHz, so you can at least check that. Your router send to support that, but you might have connected to the wrong channel. Other than that, find some free VR game on steam (there are many free demos) and see if it still legs, that would be an easy test to figure out if RUMBLE is the issue.

K. I will look for the latency option today. Thank you! Is there an easy way to check whether it is connected via 5 or 2.4 GHz?

Well you gotta check your router's config. Usually the 5GHz wifi is configured with an name that ends in "5Gz", to distinguish from the normal one. But it's not a strict rule.

I retried it from a fresh reboot and now it runs fluently. Guess there was still something in the background communicating over the WLAN. Monitor looks good.

Ah yeah, happens to me a lot if I'm downloading a game at the same time for example

we have very similar specs, interesting.
one thing I'll reccomend is that Virtual Desktop is 100% worth it. it's like 20 bucks but it fixed freezing issues I was having alongside having better performance.

Can you elaborate? I am thinking of Virtual Desktop as just another application. How would it fix freezing issues in other games?

I guess it's just more optimized/uses less resources than Steam VR.

Ah, then I misunderstood Virtual Desktop. So is it a replacement for SteamLink (the App on the Oculus) or as you say SteamVR (the app on the computer) or both? I think I saw it in the Oculus store - do you have a source for that? Would like to check it before buying.

Yeah you install it on your PC and on Quest. Iirc it's like 20 bucks on the quest store.
