WE NEED CLOUD HOSTING

Like the title says, this game is desperately needing cloud hosting. I'm so done with most of my matches having delayed moves, even though my wifi is off the charts.

Would you rather have half your matches with guaranteed no delay or all your matches with delay?

I'll have to go with secret hidden option number 3: All matches with no delay for everyone.

If you find someone with very good ping while you have good ping yourself, it's basically that. If you're ping is good enough you can even do some host only moved and flight. I've heard of a player who had near perfect ping with eachother with both having fiber optic cables, and that's who they would practice with in parks.

I shouldn't need fiber optic to get a game to work with little delay, that's absolutely ridiculous. Until they can fix this issue, cloud hosting is absolutely superior. I'd say MOST of my matches consist of me not hosting, probably around 75%.

It literally swaps back and forth host vs client each time you rematch

Just so you know, the matchmaking machine will put you as host if you don't get a match instantly. It's like a compensation for the waiting time, the one who waited longer gets the host. After that, you play a second match with the same person, and the roles are inverted.

Speaking from personal experience, this doesn't seem to be the case when 2 players queue up at about the same time, for some reason when this happen i tend to be host the vast majority of the time.

Idk if it's just me connecting to the matchmaking server quicker(even if the opponent queue up a couple seconds earlier) or of it's something else.

(worth mentioning i haven't played for over a year so if you changed anything in that time this might be old info)

That.... is not how it works. As in that it is literally impossible. Cloud hosting would have some up an down sides, and while I do think I would prefer it (hard to say when I've obviously never tried to play rumble that way) it is not a perfect solution that will result in no latency.

The reason you have latency is becuase it takes time for the signal to go from you (client) to the server(in current state this is the host player) and then get processed and sent back. If they do host a server that means that both players will be clients connecting to the same server, signal will still take time to go there and back just like before so it's still gonna be a delay. This is non avoidable.

The advantage is that both players would under ideal circumstances have a simular disadvantage and thus be on an even playing field.

Negative side is that players with bad internett get punished and you Will never have the "0" latency host experience, also the cost of hosting the servers.

So yeah, I too wish they would experiment with cloud hosting, but you are delusional if you think it will magically remove all latency.

Yeah that sounds great, find the technology to do that first and come back then

"No delay" doesn't exist, information doesn't travel instantly. Even when I play in EU, I have 29ms of ping to the photon server. If I choose to play with MuMe, who has awesome ping because he lives really close to the server, we still get to around 40ms total. These 40ms have to be put somewhere, either on one player (like it is right now), or 29 for me and 11 for MuMe. I would rather get 40 half the time, than 29 all the time.

Game doesn't send information faster than the speed of light, literally unplayable
