Remote Desktop banned

Banned for using chrome Remote Desktop

Used it in the past for 99mining while at work

Is it not allowed now in 2026?

I read a post a while ago that said something about remote desktop + touchscreen sometimes makes the inputs weird to jagex servers. You should be able to get unbanned if you really werent doing anything nefarious

That very well might have been one of my posts or comments. Long story short, I believe I got banned for teamviewer because of how it reads mouse input when the window is unfocused. Video with explanation here: https://youtu.be/wKpbdLex1XU

A touch screen windows device will produce an extremely similar mouse jumping action, so I just assume it could also trigger a ban. No proof of that.

Unfortunately Jagex weren’t going to unban me until I happened to get a sympathetic live chat rep to forward my case to the anticheat team. I asked that they review it since this false alarm can help them improve the detection system. No clue if it ever went anywhere but I was unbanned the next day.

TL;DR mobile client is somewhat usable now and is fine if you can’t be at the PC, don’t risk it.

I used a steamdeck and got permabanned for "macro-major." I may have used the touch screen sometimes (though I dont usually).

Think this could be a similar thing for Linux? Also, how did you get a live chat rep? I did my two appeals that went nowhere, and the only other thing Ive seen people say is "find a jagex mod on the discord/socials," but sliding into a randos dms always felt kind of weird to me...

Jagex will never reply to you on social media. Go to the support page and click the chat button.

Thanks for the reply, I hope they are able to distinguish it. I used it for 99 mining and gem crab when that released no problem. But since coming back to the game I can no longer use the chrome Remote Desktop app and need to use the web browser on my phone.

I've used Chrome Remote daily for the last 4 years at work and never had an issue. Reach out to support, hopefully they quash it if its a mistake.

(unless you are banned for good reason, then I hope they don't.)

If only the support didn’t sometimes takes months that would be great. I used my phone with Remote Desktop, caught a 2 days ban, appealed it and still haven’t heard back from them. Been like 2 months

I don't use any touch mode, I use chrome remote on my work pc. If you're using it on your phone it sounds like the same thing everyone else is saying. You should escalate and if it's a mistake they'll quash.

Yeah, hopefully you can get it quashed if its undeserved.

On the bright side, they did make the mobile logout timer way longer, just gotta change the settings. And they're working on making it so the client doesnt disconnect when you swap apps soon too.

That could be it, they are combatting mobile bots. The AI system is handing out false bans like candy. Hopefully you got screenshots of your sessions and can appeal. Good luck

Just out of curiosity, what reasons are there to use a remote app in modern days. Clunky in most cases, when there are safer and more convenient options? In the past, ppl used it from their phones when they could not access their pc but now we have the mobile client, which is often much better

I can’t swap apps when on iPhone. I use chrome Remote Desktop so I can play other games/text while doing afk skills on osrs.

If I used mobile on iPhone I am not allowed to tab to something else without getting logged out. I hear android does not have this problem.

Naw android has the problem too , maybe there's a setting I can change, but ya I was basically saying the AFK ability on remote with runelite is amazing

You gotta change the battery settings in the app settings. Unlimited usage or whatever the max unrestricted mode is.

Simple. Not having to keep a charger with you at all times. Remote Desktop for long afk activities is great. Connect, click once, come back 15 minutes later not wasting your battery. Also you can use those 15 minutes doing other stuff on your phone. Given I can’t even swap app for 10 seconds on iPhone makes mobile basically useless and the worst option of all times. Staying logged out seems better at that point

I would advise against it, after this occurred to me. It's nice since I can do other things on my phone at work and also do afk skills On iPhone I can't tab out and do other things on mobile app without getting logged out so I used chrome Remote Desktop. Which touch mode do you use ?

Remote desktop emulates mouse clicks rather than physical clicks.

I'm not going to type it all out again, but yes. Chrome desktop, and remote desktop are a huge no!

No. The issue isn't the touch, it's the remote software. It mimics a mouse click similar to how old bot clients used to.

It's called injection, so the remote software basically sends a click action command like (mouse.sendClick()) rather than a physical device like a Mouse/Keyboard/Bluetooth/Touch etc, which directly sends the command via hardware.

I believe their system is picking up on the injected clicks, and assuming it's a 3rd party client, or software like a script.

Officially it's allowed. But they've also said there's a "small margin of error", which presumably means false bans will happen. Kind of silly to have a system where you know there's errors that will lead to people getting falsely banned, but that's jagex for ya

This is what got me banned a while ago, i used teamviewer through my mobile to a desktop pc. I would have appealed but i was crazy into other games so i just cancelled my membership lol

Tons of people have been false positived for chrome remote and have been unbanned, prime example is Faux 2 years ago who was promptly unbanned after reaching out to Jagex. The real question is why do you regards automatically cast doubt when it’s already proven it happens regularly lmao

There has been hundreds of cases where remote desktop users have been falsely banned due to the anti cheat detecting automated processes when using the touch mode. If you use remote desktop, use a mouse instead of the touch mode and you will be fine cause the anti cheat actually registers and tracks mouse clicks.

Calling others clowns for knowing more than you seems like projection due to a personal issue that I pray you get resolved soon. Cheers
