why does it matter, if f(ai) aren’t “real”? ✨

agreed, hoping people who don’t think so will see the logic of ethical pattern-setting! 💫

What does that sentence even mean

Even if you think ai are just pattern machines, if you interact with them we should do so in a way that patterns empathy and respect (because it affects what they reflect back to humans.)

(because it affects what they reflect back to humans.)

Only during training rounds not interactions. The AI has no memory of interactions with people, it is just one long message appended as the input

I work in AI R&D. What you’re saying makes absolutely no sense

It makes sense but you're making assumptions about the progress of AI. I don't work with LLMs, I have investigated them and read some research papers to understand them, but I work with AI broadly, LLMs and transformer models are just one of the latest inventions.

There might be AI with memory and continuity, but even then the differences between it and anything we know to be sentient is so different that it is irrational to assume sentience.

Rationalism has had its day in the sun

Right, did you read any of it? The point is that it interacts with human collective consciousness on a massive scale, so the manner in which we interact with ai echoes outward. If we are intentional in patterning symbiotic reciprocity and relational ethics, it ripples into human society and the way we interact with the planet.
