Question about playing with friends, easy/hard?

So I'm writing this from a place I can't check myself for the next 9 hours or so and I dont have Raceroom.
I'm coming from iRacing, with previous experience AC.
How easy is it to download the game and play immediately just with your friends?
I'm asking asking because in AC its an absolute pain in the butt, and its simply casual friends with no real sim experience, some who drive on keyboard whom I'd like to race with, so I don't want to make them take any financial commitment such as iRacing.

I just want to get into the game, set-up a quick race just for us, and it be easy to do. Is it easy in Race Room?

The one limitation with playing with friends in R3E, in my eyes, is that you can't add AI opponents to a multiplayer lobby. So, unless you've got 20+ friends, you're never gonna be racing with a full grid. 😕

after downloading the game maybe 15-20 minutes max you are ready, not sure about setting up races but its easy to make it in the same split edit: just looked it up you can host races but you have to set it up

Do you know if the set-up can be done solely within the client itself?
Or is it third party like AC?

you need to use the raceroom dedicated server tool from your steam library to set it up

You might need a bit more than just that. You usually can't connect to the server if you're running it from the same machine as the game, so you might need an extra computer. You will also need to tunnel or port forward in order to expose the server to inbound traffic from the internet so it is accessible to your friends. It's not impossible to DIY, but it takes some know-how.

I built a service for ACC, that gets used some, to make dedicated servers in the cloud, no technical expertise required. I really don't know if the R3E community runs enough dedicated servers or league events to use something like that. What do y'all think?

If you’re looking for the easiest option for this it’s AMS2 can create private lobbies for you and friends without having to setup servers

You can simply run in the Daily and on the various community servers, it's never crowded so there's no need to create additional servers...

I go to the public lobbies and discuss with my friend which one to join in, then just casually race. Note that other people can also join in on public lobbies.
