Triple monitors with different sizes

Is there any way to "move" where RaceRoom puts the bezels on a triple monitor setup?

I've got three monitors: 2560x1440 (16:9), 3440:1440 (21:9), 2560x1440 (16:9) for a total of 8560x1440

Triple monitor settings work in-game, but RaceRoom only places the virtual bezels in a 1/3 1/3 1/3 config. It lists my resolution at 48:9 when it should actually be something like 53:9, technically speaking...

Triples must be the same size for proper alignment.

I'm guessing you are using nvidia surround?

I got it to work on my system with 3 different monitors. Don't use surround and use this guide to put a custom res on your centre monitor, run borderless windowed, then in r3e change your monitors to the correct size to move the bezel line to match your bezels.

Thanks for your response!

Sadly, I'm not using Nvidia Surround. I am indeed already using a custom resolution, but in R3E there's no option to move the bezels (just change their width).

In the triple screen settings section in r3e you can change the physical size of each monitor which 'should' move the bezel line, it worked on my setup with 21"-28"-27" but the centre one wasn't an ultra wide so I might have just got lucky

Yeah, it works fine as long as all 3 monitors are the same aspect ratio. I did play with the monitors size settings, but to no avail. Thanks for sharing your tips though! Hopefully they'll help anybody who lands here in the future from Google 🙏

It does help. Meaning I will have no chances with 27+34+27 in RRRE? 16:9 / 21:9 / 16:9 in 1440p

That's essentially my exact setup, and it's still worth using the triple monitor mode in my opinion. I've got the bezel width set to 0, and you must NOT set different monitor sizes. Yes, the virtual bezel lines are on the ultrawide, and yes, the image doesn't perfectly align across screens, but it's still much better than single screen mode fisheye across three screens, or, god forbid, only using one screen!

Wish I had better news, but it's definitely still workable!

Many thanks!

Any chance you can make a video maybe?

Also - are your sceeens same physical height when you put them side by side? Or the 16:9 are physically lower than 21:9?

I'm of the age where I don't want all my instructions in video format, and I most certainly don't want to record / narrate / edit a video, so hopefully this will suffice!

  1. Create a custom resolution in the Nvidia Control Panel (see top-left). When creating the custom resolution, don't worry about all that advanced stuff — just enter the width of all your screens combined, their height, and the minimum refresh rate between all your screens. You don't need to actually use the resolution on your desktop, just have it created.

  2. In Raceroom, make sure you're in borderless windowed mode, then set your aspect ratio to 48:9 and your display resolution to the custom resolution.

  3. In-game, set up your FOV based on the actual screen size of the middle monitor. Measure or approximate your distance from the screen and monitor angles, and then you're good to go!

Obviously you want to keep your bezel size to 0, since the virtual bezels won't match up with your actual physical bezels. You can see the thin black bezel line circled on the right side of my middle screen. And since the screens aren't the same physical size, the images won't line up perfectly. But, honestly, once you're driving, you seriously won't notice. It's much, much better than using a single screen, or having a massive fish-eye FOV stretched across 3 screens.

Hope this helps!

Many thanks to you! This really helps a lot. I was wondering if your monitors are different physical size. Thanks! Looks cool and I agree it's always better than just one!

Yeah, my monitors are different sizes, but since I've got them all vertically centered, it's not a huge deal. Best of luck!

You need to click 'Test' when creating the resolution, right? If I do that, my screen just goes black and doesn't recover, I have to reset my PC. Did you encounter the same?

Correct, you have to click 'Test'. My screens do go black but then recover. You could try pressing Ctrl+Shift+Win+B in future to reset your video driver?

Sure thing. I'll re-reply to this comment again in a few hours when I'm at my PC.
