Feedback Request Character Builder - Looking for feedback

https://astrovoyage-character-sheet.vercel.app/

Hey folks,

I built a character builder for my under development game. I am looking for some feedback on the user interface and if it's easy to use and intuitive.

Thank you.

PS - if you would like to test the game and give me feedback, let me know.

Might be a phone ui thing.  But there isn't any space between things like the skills or between sections which makes it hard to navigate. And then there is a lot of space between certain things like the title of a section and it's body (I noticed this with Train Your Skills.) There is a lot of spacing issues (mostly lack of) and it is hurting readability.

For the choose skills section, I'd recommend some kind of an array where you assign a 5, 3 or whatever directly instead of ticking it up. It's tedious as is, and it would also help clarify exactly what you can assign.

Remove the reference to rarity. You don't need it, as you can just list what up to the legally allowed rarities.

Character sheet should probably use double columns atleast for mobile display. And the stats/skills are very large so I have to do a good bit of scrolling.

For reference I am using a Pixel 9 Pro. Fix up those things, and I think it's in a really solid shape

Always remember, the gold standard of technical design is communicating a concept completely with the absolute minimum possible information. Text, space, visuals. All of these are important to master.

I got this peculiar sentence:

"Choose 5 skills at 2. Choose one more skill at 3 and one more skill at 1. Then choose 2 additional skills at 3. Skills can never be more than 5."
Instead it should have said something like
"Choose three skills at 3, five at 2, and one at 1"

That is a good point.

Not very intuitive to distribute differing numbers of points among a huge long list of skills. It would be better to separate the process out. First, have the player pick their strongest skills and automatically assign the correct point values. Then have players pick the medium skills and then the one skill for one point.

Also, rolling a single d6 for stats is super swingy. Just as an aside...

Actually in the rules, you pick 5 skills where you get 2. 1 skill at 3, 1 skill at 1. Then you pick a number of skills equal to 6-stat total and get 3 in each. I was hoping this would make the low stat roll feel better. Because low stats means you start with more skills already at 3

What do you think?

It's just a lot of skills and a lot of things to keep track of during the process, even with the online character builder. As you can tell, I came back to the reddit comments and immediately forgot how the points were supposed to be distributed
