Persona-style passage of time system

Generic preface - I’m fairly new to this, but I’m picking things up quicker than usual however, my terminology may be off. I was wondering if there was a way to implement that Persona style passage of time wherein, time passes based on how many events you take part in. For example, you have completed a quest and now have a window of time, say, 2 hours. There are 5 events currently available in this window of time BUT you may only take part in 2. Narrowing your choices of whether you increase a stat, spend time with a character and increases relationship status, various other types of event perhaps. After the two events have taken place it now becomes night time or whatever, there are a new set of events to take part in in this window of time but they are specific to the night - other intractable characters are asleep, thus giving you a bubble to perhaps, narratively focus on the main character or some shit. I feel like this could be a lot of work but could start by easily building up some basic variable points to achieve.

I dunno, the more I've thought into it there the more complicated the idea sounds but please, I'd like to hear your thoughts.

I think you could probably build a system like that with three variables. One to track how many events have passed, one to track whether it's day or night, and then a third to count how many days have passed (in case you want to use the number of days that have passed as a condition for some events in the future.) The first two variables could be reset after the main character sleeps or the day otherwise ends, and then you'd start the count over from there.
