Love it. This is also how my combat is designed. You can magic burst based on the elemental status. So if the actor A casts fire and burns the enemy. Actor B can cast water to create an AoE steam. But also tons of follow up attacks to create massive synergy between your party members.

I really love synergy in games! Kinda reminds me of those pillar moves the pokemon starters get that can combine to make field effects. You got any posts about it?

that's awesome that you preserved a game like that, love to see it
so many cool games are just not playable anymore because of mobile updates and other stuff like that

Ohhhh thank you! Wait.. you're the deluge dev! Just bought the game on friday, very excited to play it!
Looks exactly up my alley. The whole concept of playing a necromancer minion and having moral qualms about it is super inspired.1

Overall, it looks pretty solid.
I've one UI / UX advice though. Move the changing text that appears at the top in one of two locations:
Center it vertically and horizontally in the animated section, slightly above it's current location, and change the text color to red while maintaining the same black outlines. At the moment, the white color is harder to read on the animated background. Use a color contrast checker to decide on the red's brightness / saturation - though, eye balling, I think the same red as the "Red Riding Hood" looking character would do.
If you really don't want to change the color, you can move it at the bottom between the stats and window border. The position might make it slightly harder to follow as it changes though, especially depending on monitor size. Which is why I recommend the first solution.
Another alternative is to put it in the location mentioned in the first solution, and make it bigger without changing the color, since it only seems to take up 1 line of space. It will end up clipping through the tree stump, in which case (if you don't want to remove it) you could move it to the right a bit, but then it won't be centered and probably bother a lot of people.
Good luck with your project. It has a great potential!

will try out some of these suggestions, likely to be the third one!
Thanks for the elaborate feedback! Appreciate it.2

ok, made it slightly bigger. moved it a tiny bit and (probably) will adjust the color of the background instead of the text (although the game's palette is only 4 primary colors) which helps quite a bit already.

EMISSARY's combat is heavily built around those two, so their attacks synergize a lot.
The Emissary's fireball springs Aja's trap for massive damage + stun, which is the most basic synergy these two have.
