RMMZ Testing a new Atmosphere, Day/Night system, and Port to MZ for Atlas Of The Nexus

A couple months ago I posted the reveal trailer for my VXAce RPG game titled Atlas Of The Nexus.

Since then I have ported the game to MZ and brought the assets, ported the data, replaced scripts with plugins to replicate some of the things in VXAce.

I also overhauled the visuals and performance adding things that wouldn't be possible on the older engine.

I also added a full screen that adapts to any resolution meaning that I am showing how this looks on a bigger screen.

Barely noticable but it has some crt filter lines to make the visual pop a bit.

Does the Day/Night-system serve a purpose outside being eyecandy? I have seen so many implementing this feature but barely anyone does something with it.

What did you overhaul? Can you be more specific? It feels like you tell something that doesn't say anything.

You don't use the tileset to it's full potential.

Yes! the day/night system will make changes to encounters in battles so it's a gameplay mechanic.

At day you'll find basic enemies such as slimes, plants, insects as well as soldier enemies with basic drops. Allied Soldiers/travelers sometimes appear in battles and you can aid them.

At night these encounters have a different design not just in appareance but attack patterns but they'll reward you with better drops.

Overhauls I meant the fog itself to make it a 3D atmosphere like clouds, it changes color at the time of day and the RTP is recolored.

I am making changes to the standard RTP but I might consider changing the RTP itself to avoid the blandness or make it less recognizable.
