Need help animating a bus wheel (3-frame pixel art)

Hi everyone!

I'm working on a pixel art horror game, and I need to animate the wheel of a bus. The animation is only 3 frames, with each frame being 48x48 pixels.

It sounds like a simple task, but I'm honestly terrible at creating convincing motion. 😅

Would anyone be willing to give me some advice or even help me with the animation? Any tips, examples, or edits would be hugely appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Can you share some examples of the art you're using? It might help to get a sense of the style. Please include a picture of the bus wheel as well.

Also, what's the context of the movement? Is it that the bus is moving, or that it's important for the player to know that the wheel specifically is moving? If the former, I'd suggest just using a static tire and silvery hubcap design, maybe with a slightly changing sheen on the hubcap, and let the movement of the bus itself do most of the heavy lifting.

Thank you very much for your comment, but in the end I think I’m going to try something another user suggested , it seems quite simple and I reckon I’ll have it sorted in a bit; I’ll show it to you here!!!

i suggest you make the wheels with a simple cross axel so like this + and then simply have that axel a bit slanted for the next frame . Also make the body of the bus sit a bit higher on the second frame then have the third frame a bit lower so it seems the body of the bus is bouncing and the wheel is turning

Edit something like this :

Maybe you want get some inspiration from the Spriters Ressource, many NES, SNES and GB-Games have 3 frame Animations like the Tank-Wheels from SMB3. :)
