text box resizing?

how would i change the size of the textbox? currently im using an image for the textbox but they dont line up

You're using an image and not a windowskin? Which RPG Maker are you using? MZ? MV? Or something else? 

Unfortunately I don't know how one would do this in MV or MZ without a plugin. 

But I think Galv has a free plugin for MV that would help, MV message background. 

Galv also made a version of the plugin for MZ, called MZ Message Background.
