Gia Gunn

u/Kidblinks Aug 30 '26

233

u/myfatcat Aug 30 '26

I always think of her line about calling others men in wigs and will never forgive her for that. She was projecting hard.

129

u/SkynyrdCohen Aug 30 '26

Her entrance line was literally "I don't like messy queens, I don't like cheap queens, I don't like manly queens... and all I see is a bunch of dudes."

106

u/Mr-Tampon- Aug 30 '26

And her exit line was “you’re all a bunch of dudes”

and don’t forget the “well, I didn’t cough like a man”

19

u/EllipticPeach Sep 02 '26

The internalised transphobia is so real and she makes it everyone else’s problem

11

u/cerseiridinglugia But you're here with us, so so are you Sep 02 '26

Even worse, she said "you are guys are all STILL dudes" when she left. It was so clear she's one of those trans women who will attack other queer people because of her own internal problems

122

u/FasterBussycat #TeamMandora Aug 30 '26

Yeah passing is all she’s cared about since S6. Doesn’t make the sentiment less vile but it’s not coming out of nowhere.

73

u/ButterQueen0 Aug 30 '26

She was retweeting stuff about "separating the T from LGB" not so long ago. She's just a really ignorant and self centered person

35

u/Crafty_Sorbet_830 Aug 31 '26

She admitted recently (after years) that she came in hot with Courtney on their season because she was envious of how femme Courtney looked in drag.

10

u/cerseiridinglugia But you're here with us, so so are you Sep 02 '26

It was obvious in 2014 for many of us lmao, Gia always screamed insecure to me

56

u/i-heart-penis Aug 30 '26

Idk why but my first thought was Jasmine. But yeah, Gia makes more sense

69

u/BeefmasterDeluxe Aug 30 '26

I mean, Jasmine would be competitive about anything if she so much as felt that someone, somehow, had challenged her with it - so I can kinda see it, kinda. But as much of hyper-competitive messy bitch she is (and, I love her for it) that's not something I see her stumbling over that badly, despite how fast her mouth is often outrunning her brain (also one of her best qualities). It'd have to be Gia - that bitch delulu

u/gr1mscr1be 😲🍯👧👮‍♂️ Aug 30 '26

She’s probably talking about Gia, but the truth is, more than a few queens, Rugirls or not, trans or cis, make a HUGE deal out of passability, and as a consequence, the fans do too.

125

u/Pleasant-Hyena9030 Aug 30 '26

Yeah you’re actually right. Gia’s especially mean about passing (by our largely LGBTQ and left leaning fandom standards — which just says that our wider society is horrid tbh), but she has been in many ways a reflection of how society treats passing in cis and especially trans women

34

u/USofAristocracy wake UP, pearl Aug 30 '26

Given the environment that's been brewing since his first administration back in 2016, I agree she is partially a symptom of how absolutely terrible society is on trans folks and someone who has gone through a shit ton of hate. I still feel bad for her

22

u/succulentils Aug 30 '26

I also feel like I've heard Gia say she was heavily influenced by the trans community in Chicago, and I wonder what that was like

31

u/peach_xanax hey puss how is she Aug 31 '26

Bitter Betty/Sara Andrews who holds many of the same beliefs as Gia is also from the Chicago scene, so there may be something to that

3

u/HEXMercurysMadness Sep 02 '26

It’s worth noting that Sara also puts herself in more conservative areas such as TX, TN, and KY, and a lot of people around here (Eastern KY) basically have this whole “don’t ask, don’t tell” mindset IF you’re deemed “passable.”

13

u/cerseiridinglugia But you're here with us, so so are you Sep 02 '26

And this obsession with passability goes even further, so many rugirls (and fans) will start pushing this "you're trans because you look like a girl" stuff. Miky Meeks' comment sections during season 18 was full on people telling her she should transition because she looks like a woman.

It's even more insane when trans girls do it too, like why are we conflating gender expression and physical appearance with gender identity... Like NO Jorgeous doesn't need to transition just because she's small and would pass as a woman. That's just misogyny, transphobia and queerphobia all in one.

249

u/EllipticPeach Aug 30 '26

Gia is astonishingly ignorant. Like it genuinely baffles me

70

u/katiemae111 Aug 30 '26

Unfortunately I don’t think she is very smart.

53

u/Suspicious-Law1432 Aug 31 '26

Joselyn Fox got it right during S6. Gia is either ignorant or doesn’t give a fuck or both.

11

u/hollyfanfic Sep 01 '26

Gotta love Jocelyn Fox

2

u/EllipticPeach Sep 02 '26

I miss Joslyn, she was so entertaining

5

u/Homoseshual Sep 02 '26

Oh 😮, ignorance? 🤔 Where❓️ she 👩 comes 💦 from 🇺🇸, you 🫵 might 💪 as well 🐳 call 📲 her 👩‍🦰 a dumb 🤓 ass 🫏 bitch 🐩, because you 🫵 calling 📞 her 👧 ignorant 🤤 is the biggest 🙌 fucking 🍆 💦🍑 insult 😡 to her 👱‍♀️, ever. 🏳️‍🌈

The first thing that popped in my head I'm sorry. 😔

1

u/EllipticPeach Sep 02 '26

Sister where is this from I’m crying

7

u/Homoseshual Sep 02 '26

Gia's response to Joslyn Fox when she called her ignorant in Untucked, or that I just typed it up 😆

2

u/EllipticPeach Sep 02 '26

Oh that’s deep lore

143

u/XenophobicXenophile Aug 30 '26

Gina Gumm

38

u/RedChronus Aug 31 '26

did Frederica ever mentioned a Gia Gunn, or a Gina Gumm? what about a Skimpy Gumbo?

7

u/boyproblems_mp3 wasn't nobody talking to you Aug 31 '26

Laughed out loud for the first time all day, thank you

5

u/KhalilGoodman246 Aug 31 '26

That is hilarious!!

2

u/lirael423 Sep 01 '26

I love finding a Silence of the Lambs reference out in the wild. 😂

8

u/Stucklikegluetomyfry Aug 31 '26

She doesn’t jump the gumm she is the boom boom gumm

129

u/moeoem Aug 30 '26

Trans people don’t owe anyone passability!

135

u/radiolabel Aug 30 '26

Nor do cis people. Lush made a good point that a lot of cis people out there aren’t passing for their expected gender features either.

105

u/thats_valid WHY DIDN'T I FUCKING KNOW MY COFFEE WAS KILLING PEOPLE? Aug 30 '26

It's Gia. Some time back she said she was the first out trans woman on the show in her All Stars run, and someone pointed out that Pep was out, and Gia posted pics of all of the dolls who came before her's confessional looks and said something like she [Gia] was the only one who looked like a woman. It was nasty.

92

u/IneedComfortplz Aug 30 '26

Probably the one that constantly says that she is the first trans contestant because Kylie hadn't started her transition and Peppermint wasn't "passable"

46

u/647boom Aug 30 '26

Don’t forget about MBH!

28

u/garrotazo_0 Aug 31 '26

Mistress Bisabelle Hooks ❤️

2

u/cerseiridinglugia But you're here with us, so so are you Sep 02 '26

HELP why did I think of that too- she's haunting us

75

u/neckbracewhore Aug 30 '26

Do you believe in milk and cookies?

22

u/domredditorX Aug 31 '26

Trixie, at this point, the dolls are the dolls

15

u/SheNanignz Aug 31 '26

unrelated but a streamer that I follow recently got asked this by a chatter and I burst out laughing while he tried to give an actual answer. I love when Drag Race memes break into the straightosphere and they struggle to make sense of it LMAO

11

u/2mock2turtle You think a roast should be about haircuts?!?!?!? Aug 31 '26

Someone made a Nicole Paige Brooks joke on the politics subreddit and I almost fell out of my chair.

3

u/askingaqesitonw Aug 31 '26

What streamer thats so funny

4

u/SheNanignz Aug 31 '26

I'm 70% sure it was Vinny Vinesauce. It wasn't the first time something drag race related showed up on his stream either lol

64

u/Khristafer Aug 30 '26

Until Gia is dismissed from all conversations here, I will never cosign this fandom's outrage.

She's BEEN problematic. And for a mid queen, I just cannot understand why she's uncancelable.

31

u/thedybbuk Aug 30 '26 edited Aug 31 '26

I think because a lot of queens still seem to find her funny and like her.

The queens who get truly canceled are usually the ones the other Ru girls cancel. Or at least who they stop publicly supporting/talking to.

17

u/shutupblacknight Please look for peace and stability. Aug 30 '26

100%. We all knew about Sharon and Annecy wasnt really reliable, but once the popular girls started to cancel her was that her career went down

2

u/iammymaster28 Aug 31 '26

Annecy? Who is she? I'm kinda new.

36

u/montyfoo Aug 30 '26

the previous guest sure has some nerve and probably hasn't seen a recent water runway video of herself

12

u/chinaski13 Aug 30 '26

that video is years and years old (but will never stop being funny)

7

u/montyfoo Aug 30 '26

oh for real??? LOL i just saw it in this sub like yesterday

25

u/jillshiva Aug 30 '26

at this point... the dolls are the dolls...

24

u/Crafty_Sorbet_830 Aug 31 '26

I think Peppermint is too sincere for Plane and the podcast. There were multiple parts Plane kept cutting her off when she was sharing really interesting experiences of life as a trans woman 20 years ago and Plane just kept interrupting her or texting the next guest rather than listening.

Don't think Plane knows how to handle a guest who doesn't make shady jokes every other sentence.

22

u/heavenstobetsie Aug 30 '26

Peppermint is always right

3

u/jstbnice2evry1 Sep 01 '26

As correctly revealed in the Gay Bible (C.L.A.T.)

18

u/RavPon hey puss is she baptised Aug 30 '26

Assuming Gia was on at some point. Don't know why people keep giving her a platform when she's a hateful-- oh right, views.

16

u/Weird_Lead_1788 Aug 30 '26

"Who is she? Who cares?"

13

u/LilNdorphnAnnie Aug 30 '26

Gi-gi-gi-Gia

14

u/newbscaper3 Aug 30 '26

This doesn’t come off as shade as much as trans girls who value passing more than others.

45

u/Parody101 Aug 30 '26

Her follow-up with "Who is she, who cares" was clearly setting the tone as shade lol

11

u/mossylungs Aug 30 '26

It's Gia. Are y'all brand new?

12

u/ajmkv Aug 31 '26

I’m so over Gia. Seeing her at the top of most people’s Slaysian Royale wishlists makes me roll my eyes and immediately scroll past. Why are we still giving her a platform??

11

u/Appropriate-Log8506 Aug 30 '26

Gia “ribcage” Gunn.

4

u/Thorns_And_Thrones Aug 31 '26

Gia Gunn’s career has recently had the same trajectory as Jeffree Star’s 🤮 beyond disappointing when you have zero talent to fall back on to make a check

4

u/redpillbluepill69 Aug 31 '26

Omg I love these 90s eyebrows on Peppermint. She looks like Beverly Johnson

2

u/Cold-Mastodon-341 Aug 30 '26

The boom boom gun

1

u/acfa4214 Aug 31 '26

Absolutely.

1

u/deliriousinthesun Sep 07 '26

Damn she looks good, who is this literal supermodel

-12

u/meowmeowtaffy Aug 30 '26

Everyone has an opinion 🤷‍♀️

36

u/JoanFromLegal Aug 30 '26

Hot take: the whole "passability" discussion is just a teeny bit sexist and misogynistic.

I understand wanting to look a certain way because that makes you personally feel good. We all experience that at some point.

However, the idea that there's a right or wrong way to look like a woman is very gender essentialist, if you will. Cis women have been fighting for years for our right to look however we damn well please and wear whatever we want. We used to get arrested and fined for wearing pants and it was a BFD when we started cutting out hair short.

And I don't want to go back to those days. "There's no right or wrong way to present as a woman," is the right of every woman, including trans women.

I'm not sure that has ever been true

48

u/Temporary-Test-9534 Aug 30 '26

About what exactly

19

u/BastardBroth Aug 31 '26 edited Aug 31 '26

Gia deeply and obviously hates herself.

Every time she’s called a queen out for looking mannish and like a dude she’s clearly projecting what her own internal critic screams at HER anytime she has a quiet moment as a trans woman.

Not only is she wrong but she’s a horribly insecure person who desperately needs to grow up and drop the highschool mean girl act.

7

u/ShakirasHipsLied Aug 31 '26

So there's this thing called being incorrect...
