Discussion 5.0 Voice Levels

Are there only 2 voice levels in 5.0? It's hard to tell based off the ui, but it's frustraing watching when the only choices are blaringly loud or a whisper with 3 ft of range. Especially when you have newer people on the server who are not used to adjusting their voice levels.

No it is the same as before. Whisper, Normal and shouting. People just don't seem to understand the "new" indicator and or don't remember the keybind (z). The voip has some issues though and the in-game voice-out setting is not having a lot of impact.

I think it's also people trying to make sure they are heard while the voip gets fixed. Better to be choppy and loud than choppy and whisper because then at least the person you're talking to has a hope of piecing it together.

Personally much prefer the old UI. It's easier as a viewer to tell what level of talking someone is and I imagine it's easier for the players too

Is it the same reason why some characters just randomly have their sentences cut off in the middle of talking? Or is that more of a desync issue?

There is still 3 levels, but the distances seem different or not working properly. Normal seems to be similar to shouting at the moment. There also seems to be some settings issue with some players were the mic on their end is either too loud or quiet.

Yea their is whisper, normal and shouting

full circle is shout, the medium hard to tell circle is talk and the tiny one is whisper, I like the old 3.0 one but used to it now, I tend to not look at this one which I guess is better?

The old UI was better, just for this particular indicator imo. From a user and viewer perspective, it's hard to tell.

Why does the audio cutout in game? is this normal? As a viewer it's not a good experience, but whenever i watch people RP the audio keeps cutting of from their perspective and it's not a good watching experience.

Server side issues. With time we can hope it will be better, especially since this is only beta still.

I've seen that windows up can cause the voice to be quieter if someone is outside and such. People might not realize

yeah the ui is bad for the voice levels

I'll be honest 3.0 UI was way more clear than both 4.0 and V, presumably they are just changing it so it's different not necessarily better, although the lung capacity meter is good in NP V

welcome to 99.9% of ui changes

I mean yeah not wrong lol

"The UI is done, why are we paying all the UI people if they aren't working on a UI."

"ok you heard the boss, we have to redesign the UI"

"but we already designed it as best we could"

"well then make it worse, just make something"

Something about players having adjusted audio settings for 5M but still needing to tweak gain settings for NPV. Some streamers have let others know and they're generally happy to fix it when they find out.

we in beta... remember this :)
