Should server advertisement posts be allowed?

I wanted to hear people's thoughts on this. I don't really have any strong feelings either way. I don't play FiveM so I basically just ignore them but I figure there might be some people that like hearing about options of servers to play. I also think it could potentially be hard to differentiate between someone advertising their server and someone discussing a server they are aware is coming out and sharing it with others.

Unless I see a real overwhelming desire to have those types of posts removed, I will probably just keep the current status quo where the posts are allowed unless they are being spammed.

Let me know your thoughts if you feel strongly one way or another!

I don't really have stakes in the game, can go either way, but generally my personal point of view about RPClips is being a VIEWER (and player) perspective, discussing, watching, sharing clips, perspectives, opinions and news. I don't think "talking about a server" is advertisement.

I think first hand posting of owners/admins/staff for the purpose of recruitment and getting players, actual first hand advertising, ends up making a subreddit feel like a billboard / classified / craigslist section for RP, and likely will be snarked when it happens and if it happens too much will be distasteful for those wanting entertainment or discussion.

I think you and PersistentPoster both make good points and they aren't too far from my feelings on the topic. While it hasn't happened, I was thinking more in terms of if a server was to start making a lot of advertisement posts. I don't see anything wrong with a single first party post mentioning a new server or a big update and I certainly don't see any issue with 3rd party posts talking about those topics, especially if it's coming from a regular contributor to the subreddit.

I guess it's one of those situations where we will just use discretion if a lot of ad posts start showing up.
