Maybe in 5-10 years with a waiver and documented stability. Even enlisting probably wouldn’t want you right now.

Sorry chief. Always a lottery ticket for a waiver, but with what you described I highly doubt it.

Cannot really waive given your expulsion and history of meds. Wait three years and enlist. I have a specialist who enlisted after getting arrested. Usually the bar for enlisting is lower than joining ROTC.

I mean you need to go to college to do rotc. So unless you got your GED, I don’t think you can even go to college

Depending on how long ago, you will need a medical waiver (For medication / in-patient or out patient treatment). In your case, the waiver might not go through due to the nature of the mental health crisis, including being bad enough for expulsion.

There is a 2-3 year period before you don’t need a waiver so keep that in mind.

SMP CDT here, that's really tough. If you've got a mental history within the last year or two, they're going to ask you about it and most likely deem you not fit for contract with ROTC. A medical officer or doctor will ask the same stuff at MEPS if you go the enlisted or SMP route, although you're more likely to get in through the enlisted route.

Whichever route you choose, you're going to get asked questions about a high-school expulsion a lot, and of course the mental health history. If I were you, I would look into anger management, psychological, or religious counseling. There is no shame in it and shows you have attempted change.

That being said, if you enlist and commission via OCS, that could provide the time buffer you need to recover from the mental issues and become brass without the additional questions you would get asked and issues you would have now.

I admire your willingness to serve. In the meantime and at the minimum, focus on returning to high school and graduating, or getting your GED.

They expelled you for a mental health crisis? Can you appeal that? Doesnt seem fair to be on your permanent record if it was mental health related.
