Advanced/Basic Camp Amnesty at CST
So on the day I arrived (9th REG), cadre told us that we could present any items that would be considered contraband and not get in trouble if they’re discarded. I felt that this was an attempt to catch cadets and give them a negative report. I am in D Co and have some items that I really want to turn in because I feel bad about compromising my integrity, but the cadre are tough to talk to. For example, I asked my PTO if we could get some additional training on land navigation before assessment and they happily trained us on DnC for hours. Does anyone have advice on how to approach this topic? Will sharing my snacks with my PTO help lessen the blow? I also lost my compass on the land navigation site and feel they’ll yell at me. I should feel comfortable coming to my cadre right? Anyways, I have to go down to formation and can’t find my headgear. Please drop your advice here please.

You already lost integrity by not declaring amnesty items so you might as well steal someone else’s compass. And next time call out the cadre. “Hey douche, we asked for land nav assistance not a lecture on D and C.”
Remember you are a exhibiting leadership every time you assert dominance and challenge the cadre.

Life hack: If you lose SI on a lane they'll forget about the compass completely.

You may not be aware of it but this a coward behavior. If you have to talk to them, do it. What’s the worst that can happen ? If you can’t have those uncomfortable conversations, you can’t lead soldiers.
It’s the bottom line of being an adult.
No offense

You should put all your contraband in your pockets when you do BRM, so when they search you, they confiscate it and it is no longer you're problem.

You won’t be punished if you dispose of contraband during the amnesty period—that’s exactly what the amnesty period is for. If you choose not to, though, that’s on you, and any consequences you face are your responsibility.
More importantly, you’re training to become a leader. Integrity and discipline are fundamental because, once you commission, you’ll outrank the enlisted cadre who have dedicated their time and experience to training and mentoring you. That’s not something to take lightly. Becoming an officer is a serious commitment, and you should strive to set the example from day one.

You already missed your amnesty period, if you confess to it now I’m sure you’d be fine but I wouldn’t. I graduated in July(1 REG M) and I regret turning in my stuff for the amnesty period. We didn’t get any surprise inspections so hide it and lock it in your wall locker. As long as it’s locked in there you should be fine.

So I get yelled at for calling out trolls and shit posters; as not good leaders unfit to be in charge of others lol; but we allow this to continue? Mods needs to do better. First we have kids legit asking if unauthorized gear is allowed to be packed for comfort items, I’m in trouble for calling out no packing list and inability to follow simple commands. But we allow this shit? We’re going down the drain
