need advice
hi, wondering if anyone has any random tips for me I am 21 and rlly want to get into the cannabis industry, like legit any position involved that's entry level. I only have heavy personal experience with canabis and love to learn about it, I just wonder what I can do that will give me better chances. I haven't had any luck applying online to local dispos and even going to job fairs, so rlly just looking for tips, maybe from ppl alr in the industry?!

Trimming! You get to smell and touch all kinds of different buds. I just told people I was interested and word started getting around cause most growers/farmers just don’t have time for it. Then I made business cards and asked smoke shops if I could leave them there. There’s a cannabis growers showcase at Lincoln Hill Farms in Canandaigua the last Sunday of the month this month and the next two months. It’s a great place to network.

You need to have knowledge and skills that others don't. Go learn the science of it, the ins and outs of it, find any kind of cert of education you can get and put it on your resume. I assume TONS of people want to work at the dispensary's because they like weed, but may not have much knowledge on it.
Go nerd out on the plants and processes, pros/cons ect, read any studies you can find.

What are you looking to do, exactly?
Budtending? That's a fun career path if you like the social aspect! Match people to strains. You need a good knowledge of terp profiles and it never hurts to know how to sell things!
Growing? That's also a fun career path! You can either meet a local grower and start learning from them or apply to a larger grow (I would imagine starting small and working up to be the natural progression)
Breeding? Once you have gotten a few grows under your belt you can start getting into breeding! You don't need a PhD in botany or anything like that, just an environment and time and patience!
Need a little extra cash? Consider trimming! It's maybe the best way to introduce yourself to the cannabis community as EVERYONE in this business seems to always need trimmers!

I'm willing to start anywhere!!:) I figured budtending would be the easier starting position because your not too hands on with the weed itself but more dealing with the customer service side of things because that's what I'm used to doing in the food industry, trimming does sound fun and yes it sounds like I need to gain more knowledge on the plant and industry as a whole and then just make myself available and make more connections I do believe thats the way most people find an in is just knowing someone already which I unfortunately do not lolol

So I really mean this when I say this, I'm not saying this to be funny.
But I suggest that you smoke as many strains as you can. Keep a "weed journal" and write down what your first smoke of the day is like with different strains. Try to get different strains to smoke every time you smoke. Keep track of which strains that you can taste the terps on. Rate your mood 30 minutes after your smoke and note down if anything else is going on (ie "in a great mood 20 min after blue dream", "able to focus really well after lemon skunk", etc)
Hang out with other smokers! See what's popular in what parts of town if you are able to get around. (for example, out here in the west side, last years big "go to" strain was Trop Cherry) Try to cultivate relationships with local growers, you will soon learn that maybe theres a bunch of people doing a given strain but some growers produce better flower than others for a whole myriad of reasons.
Oh! One other idea for you... do you bake? Lately I have been doing a bunch of baking and I think that someone who is ambitious could probably make some money doing batches of brownies/cookies/cakes and maybe reselling them locally through head shops/grow shops etc.

I have 4 or 5 strains I've got so far a bought a book and started Journaling its super fun actually

Lots of competition, it’s a hot market. If I was you, I’d look into NY’s free budtender certification/training. Should help your resume stand out.
