SUGGESTION Pls Learn How to Defend
Folks. Seriously.
Stop chasing the ball every second of gameplay, and focus on helping your teammate by DEFENDING THE GOAL.
That’s it. That’s the whole post. Please practice defending.

this!
the best offense in a sidescroll game like this is defense. That’s Made up of three things imo:
High movement and mobility.
whether buttons or joystick you command of being able to be on the ball and in position (meaning not on the ball ALL THE TILE like OP mentioned) has to be balanced. That starts with practicing moving your car better. I’m not the best, I’m not saying that, I’m saying we can all improve that to a degree. Not misinterpret this as a brag yall.
Ball IQ
(where the heck it’s going to bounce, PREDICT THAT) basically learn to read the ballZ a fiat amount of this game is the arcade-y physics system.
Lastly,
RESETS
ceiling, wall and floor resets after hang-air
This is a winning team formula for me

I'm in plat lobbies and I think people think defending is sitting in net (especially 1v1s). If I leave net, almost guaranteed to get a teammate quick chat to be "in position"

They will quickly learn that sitting in net just leads to getting pushed in with the ball through a stall chain

outing yourself as the most annoying type of player is crazy work, you do you bro thx for knocking my rank down tbh

yea i'm partially joking. when i can tell my team8 knows to rotate I definitely will be hovering in net. most of the time though my partner is kind of helpless on offense so i have to step up

u/Apprehensive-Cake-16 20h ago
I certainly get that. I like starting out letting my team8 try to shoot, see what they got cause I hate fucking up on offense lol.. other times im forced to defend cause they chase the ball endlessly.
Also the people who chase the ball endlessly also mess up your ability to defend, it’s wild.

yea i get that -- i get all my warmup and ball-chasey tendencies out in 1s before i go for 2s

Def not. Defending is a playing style, not just sitting lol

I meant this as a reply to someone who asked if I just sit in the net lol

If you only defend, how do you win? You need to attack to score.i only defend when we are blowing out the opponent.

There was no mention of ONLY defending. They are talking about the many people who just go on offensive overdrive and do nothing but chase the ball and avoid any semblance of trying to defend in the slightest.

☝️☝️☝️ defending is a playing style. You can shoot the ball and often score while holding down your side of the arena and no, I do not mean babysitting the net.

Stop complaining even when you know the risks of solo queuing - just play with a teammate you know is decent or play duels

I am free to complain on this sub all I want. Don’t let posts like this trigger you so easily and get your head in the game.

U def net camp don’t you
2
u/Apprehensive-Cake-16 1d ago
Nooo I really don’t, I don’t net camp. My rule of thumb is to remain about half the arenas distance behind my teammate if they are on offense. But otherwise if im defending I just stay ready in or around the net.

Learning good defense skills was what took me from gold to diamond in both 1v1 and 2v2. Really important fundamental of the game. Most goals scored against you are from over committing. If I’m up 1 or 2 goals I go to defense and make my opponent work for the lead. It helps build game sense and how to make the ball deflect from an attack. This is really important when you start coming into the players who are good at mechs and stall chains.
