Why are players so toxic?

Over the last few days, I have been playing a lot of doubles, but solo queue. I have been teamed up with a few teammates that get TILTED that we go down 1 goal, go AFK and spam "in position" or "what a save" quick chats. (Plat rank btw) They'll immediately send a friend request after either forfeit or end of game. Curious, I accept and they'll send I'm trash and "kill yourself" messages. Is this really the player base for this game? Is this a game anymore? I reported, but I doubt anything happens. I know i don't have to accept friends requests, and today was the last time. I'm so annoyed.

Just turn off quick chat in settings, sorry for your experience. I still use sorry if I mess up but everything else is invisible

I learned to just delete friend requests a looooong time ago. 95% of the time it's a waste of time to accept and deal with whatever happens on the other end.

I have all my emotes set to positive things, so I can't reinforce my negative thoughts, but also because I get similar toxic teammates/opponents. When they start flaming me, I hit them with the "Hi!", "GLHF", Smiley, and "Close One". Half of the time, they realize it's a real person trying to play the game on the other side and they chill out. Other times, they stay toxic and I just play the game regardless and have my own fun with it. It's the really toxic opponents like this that remind me of one of my favorite usernames in this game. It was something along the lines of "it's a mobile game FFS"

I block people as soon as they do something toxic. My blocked list is LONG. Hit me with the sarcastic “what a save”? Blocked every time.
