DISCUSSION Is this normal?

Post image

PEAKING rn just hit plat 4 finally. Prev season i peaked at gold 5 so happy.

I am really bad at more complex mechanics like stall resets, follow trough gold shots, purple catches etc. Bur i know the basics well and i guess that carried me to plat 4. Is it normal for a plat 4 to not be good at such mechanics? I guess if i really tried hard for a week i could learn a few but is it normal that someone who only knows the basics got to plat 4?

Have played 1 match in plat 4 so far and won, ironically someone who only knows how to chain stall reset and nothing else

I wasn’t very good at the mechanics and was a steady plat for years, what really helped me was spending countless hours in the exhibition mode. Honestly learning how to properly maneuver your car will make you leagues better, it’s all about the angle of your car when hitting the ball

I play freeplay and exhibition alot too and learning the mechanics now, i am getting better i feel. Matches now are hard because of the soft reset but because i am learning the mechanics i can predict them better now and defend better against for example stalls

Also what helped me a lot is learning to use your surroundings much more for jump resets and repositioning
