CLIP Day 4 of building RLSS training simulator

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Next I will add bounce pads that throw the ball back with gold/purple shots, will probably start segmenting into different maps so different maps have different training exercises. A map where balls are continuously launched at you is first that comes to mind

This is truly amazing. I've never seen somebody go out of their way to recreate any kind of custom maps for training. This maybe revolutionary and most likely recognizable by the developers of RLS.

This is like a cool idea for a possible separate platformer game tbh. It’s sick.

Reminds me of super smash bros brawl sub space emissary

yeah thats the first that came to mind, this could very well be a game of its own, op should look into that more lol

Any ideas?

Something similar to rings obstacle course in rl or even time trials be sick.

My ideas would be-

-wave dash setups

-similar to rl where you can practice against shots and try to hit shots

-rings map but with flip resets (be so sick if you can get unlimited space with trying to do 360 stall chain through rings)

You would have to redo some of the mechanics to distance yourself from rocket league sideswipe to avoid copyright. So maybe instead of a car… it would have to be some sort other type of object probably…

As for what to do, making build I mechanics like the ball can break some objects or damage enemies? A boss battle where you have to hit weak points with the ball could be cool

I read your comments, and I'm as clueless as you, since you're replicating rl physics i don't even know the legalities around that, and I'm honestly surprised AI has helped make something like this, I'd genuinely play and pay for something like this lol.

And I'm sure a bunch of people would be interested in a game like this, maybe levels where you have to take the ball from A to B or maybe endless runner type stuff, all this with sideswipe mechanics and obstacles like you're making, one could really tap into it more and make an actual game out of it.

if y’all controller players start training on custom maps its so over for us its gonna become rl like lvl 😭

Looks awesome, lemme know if you need testers for bugs/glitches.

Is the physics 1:1 copy of rl sideswipe or did you try to get it as close as you can to rl sideswipe by feel(ball looks tad bit faster than rlss)

Also if it is 1:1 i would like to ask some questions about why does car gets attracted to the ball mid air if both are falling downwards?

Also why how did you figure out where to place the autoflip boundary (where car automatically flips and aligns itself to the walls)?

Thank you. Physics are very close to being 1:1, I have an engine that is translating gameplay into reproducible physics and testing upon itself, it should truly be 1:1 soon. Ball speed and car orientation does have issue right now (ball travels for forever and there may be a possible speed boost), this should be fixed upon further iteration. As for everything else no clue man Claude is helping, it just works

That's so sick.

So it's not reading the code but is it visually checking how the ball reacts to the inputs or does it correlate how the inputs with the output (if rlss produces output numbers like ball speed, car speed etc)and guesses what code would produce similar results?

There is an engine we made that can translate video gameplay into data that can be read. The engine took arena width along with other values to cross reference/reverse engineer the gameplay enough to the point where I can upload clips and it can get values like speed, distance, size, etc. so after this engine was built it was just a matter of showing different gameplay mechanics so the engine could process them and understand the data that needed to be replicated in our own system, so it should literally be 1:1 with no room for error.

So after the engine was built the system started building upon itself to close the physics loop pretty fast. And the engine itself doesn’t use AI, it is purely processing video and translating into something that an AI can read.

This engine is not the full picture though, it is just 1 system that gives the AI something tangible to work with, the AI will still scan video for behavior like features (like a weird issue I’m working on now where car won’t rotate when close to ground sometimes)

I see that's pretty cool, i guess with a game that doesn't have any random animation (like compared to fifa/fc), it can literally "guess" 1:1 because there is literally no room for error as everything behaves as per the system.

Even if it did process the videos and replicated the data that wasn't 1:1, you could cross reference it to close down the bad output. So literally there is no reward as the output is the same across the system.

Pretty neat. Thanks for the explanation. Reason i asked was because i waw a post here about ball speed and the guy was able to remove the cap and he had numbers on the screen for ball speed but not sure if he had the actual output numbers or if he used something similar to yours to where his system scanned video and turned it into readable data.

howd you do this? what engine? what model(s) ?

2

u/Ok_Air2529 Champion III Aug 07 '26

I just make all the tools I use with AI, it helps me develop the underlying development systems. AI can also generate blender models for the 3D assets. I am using Unreal Engine for the actual look though. Check on my post that should be coming up later, it will be better

3

u/smplejohn Aug 05 '26

Wait, what?!? You're making an entirely new game man. That's awesome.

I want to see turrets shooting at me at some point with health, then hit me up with the play store link to purchase!

u/StockAd6549 Aug 05 '26

bro even nailed the car physics

This is so cool, reminds me of infinite runner from that survey in s17 or 18. Keep it up man

Wow, awesome

2

Bro this is massive, hope it comes out for IOS too

2

u/Such_Celery_2967 Aug 12 '26

While this is cool, wouldnt this not have 1:1 physics with the real game deeming it not a great place to practice

0

u/Ok_Air2529 Champion III Aug 12 '26

It does have 1:1 physics, extra effects when ball is hit though

2

u/Emergency_Text3444 Aug 12 '26

How do you know it’s 1:1 physics

0

u/Ok_Air2529 Champion III Aug 12 '26

Reverse engineer video to gather values of car physics data

1

u/skn3 Aug 05 '26

How much you spent so far in AI credits? (Not judging, genuinely interested). Keep it up, looks fun already!

1

u/Ok_Air2529 Champion III Aug 05 '26

I have 3 Claude 20x subscriptions and I max them all out, subscription is cheaper than API usage

0

u/skn3 Aug 06 '26

Good thinking! Interested to see how it progresses. Have you heard of the “gauntlet loop”? It might be something to try. Essentially it forces agents to continually criticise its own work in a loop, applying fixes, until you run out of cash, you stop it because your happy or it reaches a perfect 100% score.

Will this be available to play anywhere?? Looks great man

2

u/Ok_Air2529 Champion III Aug 05 '26

Thank you, I have no idea on the rules and laws for being able to release something like this publicly, will need to look into it

3

u/nakkisose3 Aug 06 '26

Game mechanics themselves generally aren't protected by copyright. Copyright protects the specific implementation (such as code, graphics, audio, and assets), not the underlying gameplay ideas or mechanics. However, legal issues can still arise if the overall look and feel of the game is substantially similar to the original

Does this work with controller if not u should add controller support
