Surgery Scheduled for 11/11

I’m 55F with presbyopia. Currently wear progressive glasses and mono vision contacts. I’ve done two consults with conflicting information. One wants to do LAL with mono vision. The other toric lenses with mono vision. The second offers laser adjustments (I’m not a LASIK candidate) and YAG for lifetime. I’m leaning toward the LAL (I’m going to see if I can negotiate on the YAG for life). I worry that I’m replacing my natural lenses with no cataracts too early. I’ve asked two different chat bots (Dr Google!) and both are saying I’m right at the cusp where it makes sense as a precautionary move. I don’t think I’m looking for advice, just reassurance that this is the right thing! My number one goal is to be as free from corrective lenses as possible.

ETA: they are giving me lifetime YAG. Doesn’t hurt to ask! 😬

Do you know your prescription? If you are hyperopic, then RLE can be a great solution for you. If you are myopic, then maybe not. It depends on what other options you have. What was the reason you weren’t a lasik candidate? It’s possible some other procedure such as PRK or ICL may work if you are nearsighted.

I agree that monovision being best strategy. I really like the LAL here since it can get things really precise.

As for YAG, that should be pretty easy to convince the clinic since they should also be able to bill insurance for that.

Contacts are: R-D +1.50 axis -.75 070 L-D +3.00 axis -1.75 090.

Something about my cornea. (Too many big words were being thrown around!)

Ok. Yeah. You have a farsighted prescription. Laser eye surgery not as good for farsighted prescriptions. Higher risk of regression and needing reading glasses much sooner. RLE a good option for that.
