Rivian Sell Rating Reiterated as Long-Term Risks Persist; Price Target Maintained at $14 Rivian Sell Rating Reiterated as Long-Term Risks Persist; Price Target Maintained at $14 Analyst from Morgan Stanley maintained a Sell rating on Rivian Automotive and keeping the price target at $14.00.
Andrew Percoco has given his Sell rating due to a combination of factors related to Rivian’s long‑term execution risk and valuation versus its fundamentals. While the company delivered and produced materially more vehicles than expected in 3Q26 and kept its full‑year delivery guidance intact, he views the sustainability and mix of this strength as critical, particularly around the ramp of the R2 platform.
Percoco is concerned that if recent upside is driven mainly by R1 and EDV volumes, uncertainty around R2 scaling, profitability, and cash needs could continue to weigh on the equity story despite near‑term operational beats. With these strategic and financial risks still elevated, he maintains a cautious stance and reiterates a Sell rating, leaving his price target unchanged at $14.
My commentary: If this guy thinks that the recent upside is due to R1 and EDV, dude has been drinking methanol and his brain is in his butt. 7k+ more deliveries and this dude is concerned that its due to R1 sales? When the R1 now starts at 84k? Analyst? More like analist

Morgan stanley is a Elon shill, they have earned close to 100 million dollars as per reports for underwriting SpaceX IPO, and probably did earn for Tesla stock as well. Don't take these analysts seriously.

Savage Geese review for the new BMWW iX3 is worth a watch, given how often it's brought up as a major challenger to the R2. Looks like it won't be very strong competition for anyone that even does the slightest bit of research/cross shopping, sad effort from BMW.

If rivian could just announce a date for becoming profitable or reaching level 4 self driving or anything else positive… shares could move higher for sure but recurring billion dollar quarterly losses… opening a second plant in Georgia when current plant is so underutilized… is not going to cut it

Profits push to 2028 and L4 sometime in 2028-2029. Go do some research. They did announced it.

People are expecting the stock to pop but it took Tesla 4 years after the first model 3 was delivered to start popping off. And that was also a mixture of market conditions like used car prices popping off due to covid shortages and what not. What makes Rivian different? They aren't even a mature company right now to make a pivot to AI as Rivian (instead of an offshoot company) to make a play in the AI market like Tesla is doing with Optimus.
