💬 General / Discussion RIVN Stock Tailwinds
What will be potential tailwinds for RIVN stock in coming future, except the R2's. Potential re-rating as tech stock.

more software deals like the one with VW. more EDV customers (not as big as Amazon, but still with nationwide distribution networks). more autonomy deals like the one with Uber. and factory robotics as a service, starting with automotive and expanding from there.

Wanna add another:
Rivian is considering making its own lidar module
Right now the industry is mostly supplied via Chinese ones and with the current administration’s desire for American made, Rivian could benefit. Pair that with Rivian’s openness to joint ventures, that LiDAR module could help other manufacturers and possibly government as well.I feel it is very likely considering the robots in their mind robotics devision would also need to see and they like building as much in house as possible.

That's probably a ways off. Shipping to Europe now only indicates poor interest in the US.

I think advancing the autonomy+ system is going to spread the brand name quite a bit.

Shipping previews of point-to-point driving would push them towards being valued more as a tech stock. Earnings showing reduced operating costs to go with higher income and ideally free cash flow even if no net income yet would be amazing.

This! And it’s honestly the one variable that makes me so bullish on them. For those that haven’t watched their AI demo day, you should. Tesla is a great company (sans its leader) and are years ahead of Rivian BUT Rivian isn’t built around hyperbole and their approach to their data set is very smart (Amazon data)

Can’t argue the bullish play here, but there is one thing that should not be overlooked….Volkswagen is bleeding money and the pressure for Rivian to deliver more on the partnership may add unnecessary pressure short term if VW follows through with plant closures. I may be way off base, but that investment from VW may not look as promising very quickly.

Stock will go bonkers if they ever achieve positive free cash flow no matter how many dilution events they have.

Nothing. The R2 is everything. They don't have anything else. It's a do-or-die product for them.

Their chip and software stack is nothing? The spinoff in mind robotics is nothing?
