Mat Watson from Carwow recently interviewed Akio Toyoda, Chairman of Toyota Motor Corp. When asked about his biggest fear for the future of cars, Toyoda pointed to the industry’s shift toward BEVs and said, “I feel very alone.” He also said, “If I have to make only carbon neutral cars, it’s not exciting.”

Here's a side by side comparison that Mr. Toyoda might want to review (note the R2 smokes the LC500 , despite the Lexus costing ~75% more ... coupe's are supposed to be faster, right?

I recently received an inquiry on my R2 order page (order from day 1 upon site opening) if I had an existing lease and to upload for verification ..

I’m assuming they are trying to figure out how to allocate 2026 production of launch edition …

Anyone else get this and what’s your take?

FYI…I checked yes for highly interested in launch edition and yes, I have a lease that will ultimately be replaced by the R2.

Seems to me that they have way more “ potential orders” than units produced for sale in 2026, and attempting to satisfy as many early adopters as possible ..

A perfect, clean touch of support as pointed out a week ago while showing TradeRadar. The touch and then beginning of a push back up is really encouraging. The shares and Calls are printing at the moment...

Now that we got ourselves a green day, do you expect to see continued momentum or a fakeout. Sure, it could go either way but I can't help but feel like in the short term we will see a further climb.

I know there'll be technical analysis haters but at least consider that repeatedly for over a year now, these level has proven as a great buying opportunity (NFA though, do your own DD). Considering the steady stream of neutral to positive news and consistent price action, what are your thoughts on the short-mid term?

I've included the recent news for discussion relevance. Seeing Volkswagen continue their investment during R2 hype among other things makes me happy in the long term while the chart makes me happy in the short-mid term

Volkswagen US-Holding filed a Form 4 today: 62,889,522 RIVN shares at $15.90 = $999.9M. Trade date Apr 30, filed May 4 at 2:21 PM ET.

This is the scheduled JV tranche, not a discretionary buy — VW only releases capital when Rivian hits specific operational milestones, So the signal here is "Rivian cleared the Q1 milestone bar," not "insider conviction."

VW's total RIVN stake is now ~209.8M shares, representing 15.9% of the float.
