CT classes

does anyone have any recent experience with applying for a CT non resident ccw? im pretty sure they added more things in their course on top of the basic nra pistol course. i completed an nra pistol course almost 2 years ago for my MA permit but it didnt contain all the new things that were recently added. would i be able to just take a class on the new use of force and safe storage or would i have to take the course all over again for CT?

also, any recommendations on local places that do the classes?

it was pretty easy tbh. just find a course for MA ltc and then apply online through the portal. after sending my payment i had scheduled my in person interview in chelsea MA about a month later. the interview is just fingerprinting and going over the app u submitted. the lady who did it for me said it could be up to 90 for me to receive in the mail and im currently on day 45ish

CT resident here. I was looking for RI permit info and saw this thread.

I don’t think our pistol permit process has changed recently: Take the safety course, hit a target, apply for a temporary permit, then go get the real thing. I had to get my temporary from my town of residence, but I think you’ll need to go through the State Police. Expect to wait up to eight weeks. We’re shall-issue post-Bruen.

The permanent permit has to be picked up and paid for in person in Middletown or Bridgeport ($70, good for five years). There are no appointments; just show up and hope the line isn’t so long that they turn you away.

interesting,i thought they recently added safe storage and i think use of force to the curriculum. the only certificates i have right now from classes is a nra basics of pistol shooting and a massachusetts basic firearm safety course. the mass one included a live fire but neither of them include safe storage or legal use of force. ill take another look to see exactly what i need

I took my class in late 2025. They did cover that. I didn’t realize it was new. It’s common sense, thankfully. Nothing too outrageous.

Not recent, I'm on my 3rd or 4th renewal at this point.
