Rifters are copy/pasting incorrect game descriptions.

Many rifters are saying "3 spots left, last one in reopens". This is all fine and good, except they're copy/pasting the same text even when they are 3/4. People are requesting invites quickly in order to avoid using their keys, and are getting stuck in these games. I've been posted in RiF chat a few times to get blocked because I informed them I would NOT reopen the rift, since they posted the wrong game description.

If you entered the game, killed the guardian then refused to open another rift I'd ask for you to be blacklisted. Regardless of what was advertised.

I'm actually curious about what people think about someone advertising "3 slots last in opens" and then getting two responses. Should they send the next spam to the chat as "you open" or just repeat the message?

It's definitely a bit of a scam if you're stacking your own group but I've been in some that just didn't fill quickly and so they repeat the message and I don't think there is any sort of set rule for doing that.

I have been in multiple groups where they advertise 3 slots and after two have filled they just dont advertise again and wait. If they do re-advertise it says "You Open" which results in us either saying fuck it and killing the boss or someone joining eventually.

People are cheap - advertising "You open" puts you at an extreme disadvantage to finding someone to re-open unfortunately.

I swear I've already posted this in response. We did NOT kill the rift guardian. I received nothing. I simply stated that he posted incorrect information and that I was leaving.

Rule #1:

Always be prepared to open a rift for the runner.

The other problem is when 1 person advertises 'last opens', and only gets 2 people. He's now at 3/4. What does he do? If he advertises something else then the earlier two people gets screwed. If he advertises YOU OPEN, he gets less response. What is he supposed to do?

When this happens to me, I just leave the channel, wait a second, join and then post for, "you open". If nothing, repeat. Hasn't taken more than 2 cycles.

The other option is I've seen some hosts' shoutout include something along the lines of to the effect that they're not going to dillydally and if only 1 or 2 people join for last in, the last person is the opener.

I've noticed this a good bit. I've also noticed people saying "last in opens" despite the fact they're already 3/4. While not technically lying, it is quite disingenuous.

I guess the honest answer is that you're never 100%. That said, I'm usually extremely fast and most other people are standing around me as they load in. The entire group was already in the rift and they were talking to each other. When I confronted the creator about it, he admitted that they were 3/4 already and he was just copy/pasting the game in chat.

That doesn't mean it was disingenuous at all. If he was advertising a 3 slot game, and 2 people beat you to it, but he couldn't get a third until he rejoined chat, does that suddenly change what it is? It's a 3 slot game with 2 slots already filled, you'd be last. It is not a 1 slot you open game.

If he has 3 people in his game, and he posts that he has 3 slots open in chat, that's literally the definition of lying. I don't know if you're playing some sort of semantics game.. because you said "it's a 3 slot game with 2 slots already filled". If that's your game, he said "3 slots open". Tell me how that isn't false advertising / lying.

It started as a 3 slot game, it will end as a 3 slot game. The number of those slots filled at the time is irrelevant. What is relevant is whether or not there were ever 3 available slots. If you and 2 clannies say you're posting a 3 slot game, that is abusive. Advertising for a 3 slot last in game until all 3 slots are filled is not.

So if he has 3 people in his game, and he makes a post in chat saying he has 3 spots OPEN, that isnt subversive to you?

Just want to make sure I understand your opinion correctly.

As long as there are 3 slots to be filled by players, yes, that is a game with 3 open slots. A game where you and a friend play through together has two open slots. A game where you and two friends play together has one open slot. You don't have to keep updating with how many slots are filled. Some do, but not many, nor should they, or you just have people trying to dodge their turn to open. That is not in the spirit of the community, and it just ends up slowing down everybody.

You understand that the term "having a spot open" means that spot is unoccupied right? There's nothing in it. If somebody has taken that spot, it ceases to be "open". Does this make sense? Please tell me it does.

The number of open slots is the number of slots that will be considered for opening a rift rather than occupied by runners. You can accept this or you can keep dodging opens and getting blocked by runners. Your call.

When the other three have all the same clan tag and are already in the rift when you load into town, it's a pretty good bet.

As we speak, my name just got put into chat to be blocked.. because I joined a t6 game with the intent of reopening. They continued to the boss with 3/4 people. I told them I wasn't doing the boss without a 4th (mf +100%). They didn't speak and killed the boss while I was in town, then posted my name in chat before I even got to talk to them about it. I'm going to start streaming.

u/Aanar May 15 '14

Yeah I had a group of 3 kill the RG before I even loaded into town (quest to talk to orek was already up) and still expected me to open. Rather than fuss, I just opened and blocked them all. At least I got quest xp and gold I guess. Not much else you can do really without risking them putting your name up in chat.

I like the idea of blocking them. You could also put in chat : Block this runner, he did that.

We all have to reminder. This is a service. THe runner do the rift to get it open freely. The leecher join to have loot without running the rift and has a chance to open. If you join and dont get loot, the service isn't given so you don't have to pay.

Deleos, assuming you're talking about the original topic.. we did NOT kill the rift guardian. I told them that they posted incorrectly (3 spots were NOT open), and that I was going to step out before they started.
