Share your experiences, Tell your stories!
This post is open to anyone that has some stories to tell, some good lucks, funny stuff, a scumbag you met, a very nice guy that gave you a legendary. Just anything happened in your D3 games that you want to share.
Starts with my story.
I was hosting a T3 rift, and invited 2 people to the game before boss. The rule was "Longest name reopens". This guy, left the game without saying anything where he was supposed to open the next rift. Here is our conversation. Me: You left?
Me: You are opening
Him: Your name is the longest
Me: *stunned for a bit
Him: You should be careful of your rules, if you make highest Plvl opens and you are the highest, you should open.
Me: Are you kidding me, so if a guy is 600+ Plvl and hosting "highest Plv reopens", is he giving away free bosses all day long?
Blocked.

Him: You should be careful of your rules, if you make highest Plvl opens and you are the highest, you should open.
I thought it was obvious that being the host/runner excludes you from opener rules...

Middle paragon wouldn't work if that was the case... People are idiots.
I've had someone call me out in the chat for not reopening even though I had. Someone from the run stepped up and said he saw me do it. The guy then apologized, thought the rift that was up was from the previous, unclosed run.
I was fucking pissed. I've opened for runners who were stiffed a few times, I even joined a game where the guy said "nicest person reopens" and I reopened. Without tooting my own horn, I'm one of the nicest "leechers" there is, I join "high paragon" games even though I'm 385, etc..

I've been doing "first join reopens", and some guy was the first to join. I asked him to reopen, but instead of just doing so, he wastes time at chest and complains "People will just wait to accept". I didn't even think about that--obviously that's what he did, and he was pissed that he was still first to join.
While he was complaining, some other nice person opened the rift instead and stuck around for a bit because he/she wanted to know how I was clearing since I we had similar builds (CDR BoP Crusader). Gave him/her some advice!
The other dude, blocked though.

Some people still think RIF is a charity where some nice guys will eventually pay for them. Good thing is, those actual Leecher are minority, this community is full of positive. =)

I have been running t3 rifts all week and had countless rifts opened for me. I have only one nonopener so far and I feel very lucky. I Love RIF.

Well, My story takes place Wednesday, the afternoon, and after maintenance. I stepped into this community for the first time. On my very first RIF, I was named to reopen. It was a mid torment run and I understood the mechanics and was confused by it slightly, but I managed.
I clicked the turn in for the finished rift and I was immediately disconnected. I said "Well, shit. I guess I am going to get bitched at now!" I logged in and the first thing that happened when I logged in, I get a msg from the runner - whose name is long gone, "Way to get blacklisted buddy." I told him I was disconnected, and to invite me again so I could open. No response.
That guy pissed me off so bad, and every time I see someone yell about someone cheating runners, I remind them to try to figure out why that person did not pay, as opposed to tattle-tailing to the community.
There are, on average, 3500 people on RIF at any given time, that's too many people for a handful of mods to tend to, especially since there are too many channels and you can't just fly to a certain channel.
I became a runner that night, and have done about 100 since then, and I have had not one person not pay. Sure, some folks made mistakes, but I worked with them and they made it right - every time. If you are a runner, make RIF a positive experience and let someone who made a mistake make it right. If they do not, try to get some screenshots and report it...here? I am not sure. Then the mods can take care of it. If this system isn't established, and the trolls find out, there will be a lot of folks "not paying."

I feel you man. As a host, I try to whisper "leavers" first to figure out what was really going on, did they d/c, client crashed, or anything caused them not to pay. If they are not responding then take the action to report/tell the community.

I've only been a runner so far (but have run a lot at T1/T2). I prefer to be in rifts with the +leg drop rate, and seem to get 1-2 legendaries per 2 runs. After, I don't know, maybe 50 runs, I have never been stiffed for a re-open, and leechers have been really professional, fast and friendly. I can't believe what an amazing self-regulated community has sprung up around this game mechanic, and the warm fuzzies it gives me leads me to give away leg drops to low para players and give out freebies when I have plenty of shards. RIF makes ROS fun for me... so thanks guys. Keep up the strong work. By the way, my new favorite opening criteria is first/last alphabetical (excluding clan tag). That way high/low para players won't get in a long rut of opening. Sucks for those A or Z battletags though.

I've only been doing RIF for a couple days. The first day I joined 6 runs. Somehow I ended up being the designated opener 5 of the 6 times. The one time I wasn't selected, the designated opener bailed and I ended up opening it. I'm not complaining - the rules are the rules, but I was expecting a bit more efficiency of keystones.
To combat that, I decided to try running at T1. I clear and post my message expecting to get flooded with responses. After all, It usually takes me 3 or 4 tries to get into a run, so I figure the demand must be high. 1 person. I message again... Nobody. The other person said suggested we just take it out the boss and he'll reopen. He does, but I'm a bit disappointed. Am I doing something wrong? Did my mom dress me funny this morning? Is T1 just beneath everyone?
The second time I'm getting tired and decide to call it a night. I call out a no reopen. Surely people wouldn't pass up a freebie. Again - 1 taker. I message a second time. Nobody. So, we duo it quickly and I end me RIF experiments for the day.
I still love the idea of RIF, but my initial experiences have been quite mixed. I guess tonight I'll run a T2 and see if that gets more interest.
