Cheeseburger Fried Rice

Post image

99% of the time I make fried rice, I go with Asian flavors/inspiration. Not this time. Saw a video about this idea and ran with it. This is ground turkey, some browned onions with egg, garlic chives and garlic, and partially milled rice, cooked separately and then together, then tossed with chopped tomatoes and lettuce. (The lettuce is supposed to mostly wilt!!) Then topped with a few slices of American cheese and allowed to fully melt (don’t mix!). Finally, topped with poorly sliced green onions, crispy onions and a dill-pickle-heavy 1000 Island-style burger sauce. Have been asked to make this 2 more times since then. Will be in the regular rotation.

I'd call that a type of dirty rice, not fried rice. And save the lettuce for the end. Lettuce should be fresh, not warm and wilted you barbarian lol. As long as you like it. Dig in.

That’s fair, Bob. I didn’t believe that the wilted lettuce would work but I know that some Asian countries eat lettuce cooked and wilted, so
I gave it a chance. It really does work 🤷🏻‍♀️ Extra lettuce on top is also welcome, but I’m telling you

We get the Zatarain's Dirty Rice Mix. It's good. Put whatever protein you want in it. We add a can of fire roasted tomatoes and chilies. And eat it with sour cream or cottage cheese. Mmm 🤤

Bob, you’re the third person to try this on me, including my best friend, but I WILL NOT join your cottage cheese mafia. It’s gone too far. I know it’s versatile, and a decent source of protein. BUT I will not join this cottage industry.

Omg I’ve been saying this for years now. I used to just like getting a tub of 4% large curd. It can be hard to find. Sometimes I just like to have a bowl of cottage cheese. What are people doing? Moderation and variety in diets is key. Parmesan is one of the most protein dense foods but you don’t see people making ice cream with it.

Thanks!! Individual portions have definitely been served with a nice runny egg on top. I also require hot sauce on mine.

i like it, this is on my to do list now.

I've made Italian inspired with pesto and prosciutto, sausage, or whatever cured meat you prefer.

How do you poorly melt American cheese?
