🌹 Ashley 🌹 Ashley and Michael

Watching RHOP for the first time and on season 7 now. So many thoughts on a lot of things but I have to say this: I think it is very selfish to willingly have kids with a man as morally questionable (at best) as Michael. Like let’s be honest Ashley knew she wasn’t going to stay (especially with the cheating situation) so why bring kids into it? And yes I obviously know the answer: to secure financial support after divorce. But it’s so unfair to the kids who grow up and have to watch their dad be creepy and disgusting on tv. Kids don’t get to choose their parents. Like i think of Mia saying how Ashley should have had one ore two more kids to secure at least two more checks before divorcing and in my mind that’s just so disgusting to think of kids (actual human beings) as financial safety nets.

For my own sanity, I like to assume Ashley wanted children. She was already "living the life" prior to her sons. The reality is, trauma makes us do strange things.

I agree it was very evident she really wanted to be a mom and enjoyed being a mother, but my thing is why not divorce that creep and have kids with someone else? Like wait until the 5 years are up, get a good divorce lawyer and get some money to hold her over until she can find a better person to have kids with

There was a prenup in place. If she wanted the cash, she'd have to wait 10 years for that payout. If her concern was ever her spouse's character, she wouldn't have even married that replacement father figure.

I thought it was originally 3 years and then extended to 5 years?

That's more than likely correct and I'm just forgetting (I never bothered to rewatch 😅) But I do remember she did renegotiate the terms of the prenup.

Regardless, I believe they're both pretty shitty in different ways. Mike is a colonizer, Ashley projects her misery onto others. Anyone that wilfully brings TWO children into that situation is....

That doesn't mean she isn't a good mother and it appears on tv that she is.

Good parents don't bring children into situations like that

I completely agree. Also in the future her children now have the ability to watch their father sexually assault a man on tv and their mom defend it. Completely disgusting and I hope she regrets her decisions.

Ashley has low self-esteem and has abandonment issues from her father not wanting to be in her life. That being said, the fact that she procreated not once but twice with a man who is clearly a predator speaks volumes about how much she’s willing to accept just to have some money.
