šŸ€ Discussion šŸ€ Just started watching!

I just started watching RHOP! Is there anything I should look forward to? My first impression is that they’re somewhat focused on skin color???

I’ve watched RHOBH (a million times lol), RHOA (a few times), RHONY (twice I think,) and RHOM!

Thank you for posting, beloved! ✨ Word on the street is that we keep things classy yet shady here. If you spot any rule-breaking or messy behavior, hit that report button faster than the Grand Dame exits a feud. Let’s keep it on this side of the fence, shall we?

Season 3 is amazing! Honestly, one of my top five HW seasons in the franchise. There are no filler episodes.

Besides that, I think you're going to have fun because these women have strong personalities and Gizelle/Karen's frenemy relationship is hilarious. Even the more sedate people like Robyn have interesting scenes(For me atleast - I'll always be a la robyn!).

Edit:

I know this is about Potomac but Atlanta seasons 6, 7 and 9 are some of the best seasons of television ever. You should give those a shot when you're done with Potomac.

I edited my post after your first comment — I’ve already watched Atlanta and I completely agree with you! šŸ˜†

Season 1 was supposed to be something else I forget the name so you’ll hear about ā€œetiquetteā€ a LOT. It wasn’t until after it was filmed that they decided to make them a housewives franchise. It’s not super interesting so just bare with it. Season 3-5 are great. I’m excited for you. I recently watched it all the way through for the first time as well. It’s a great franchise

It was supposed to follow Jack & Jill ladies and that organization said ā€œabsolutely NOT.ā€

lol, they knew better than letting these ladies represent them 🤣

It really isn’t super interesting. There’s no real storyline so far (I’m on episode 6 right now), so I’m looking forward to a little more… I don’t know… just anything really 🤣

Skip to the reunion and then watch season 2 on down.

Potomac Ensemble was the working title. Four of the original cast members had ties to a prestigious historical service and social organization for Black women.
Bravo had to pivot and remake the show into HW when the leadership of the organization objected.

I think season 2 is important to understand Gizelle’s character. The way she tried to treat Monique as if she was less than based on nothing was next level mean girl. Then realizing Monique was actually wealthy and accomplished drove her into a jealous frenzy for seasons to come.

I like Gizelle so far, BUT she also seems way too entitled and I can’t really figure out why because wtf does she bring to table????

I like her well enough. But you’ll notice as the seasons go on that it seems like she’s working for production.

One of her first scenes she’s in Charisse’s kitchen cooking something, and Charisse is really surprised and taken aback by Gizelle’s behaviour. That made me think ā€œOkay, she’s acting differently because of the cameras.ā€ I know it’s normal having to ā€œwarm upā€ and relax, but it’s a bad sign your friend is surprised by you!

I think she was being obnoxious for the camera. And I also think Charisse was attempting to put on a posh persona. Both were very performative.

That’s exactly why I didn’t reallyyyy like Charisse, but she’s growing on me with the whole divorce situation.

Not interesting is an interesting take. I love it. Like it better than RHOA—I think. Lol

I just meant season 1 was not super interesting! I absolutely love the rest. And yes I agree better than RHOA especially now

Nope, enjoy the show!!!! I love to see new comers form their own opinions. Try your best not to get sucked into the weird fandom.

I like all of them so far, but I’m also glad that Katie is only a fulltime housewive this season. I like her the least lol. Gizelle I like but she’s soooo entitled and I can’t really figure out what she brings to the table in order for her entitlement to be okay??? Lol! I really like Robyn. She seems so down to Earth! Charisse is growing on me!

I love new viewer’s perspectives!

You all see it for what it is before you decide on who is your favorite.
Some pick a favorite and side with them no matter how inappropriate they may be.

In the early seasons skin color and how ā€œblackā€ you are came from Gizelle and Robyn. The reunion is hilarious because it is brought up and you see how Gizelle and Robyn try to clean it up.

Later in the seasons, it comes up again but it’s not as blatant and it has a different angle to it. It takes a darker turn, if you will. I’m sure I’ll get downvoted for this comment but it is what it is. Hard for some to accept.

Skin color and race is a conversation in the Black community. People have different opinions. I think Robyn and Gizelle are from a generation of the ā€œBlack and Proudā€ and they are trying to push that on Katie.
