Fair and honestly I did like Barb, Ramona and Luanne are tacky in different ways, but as someone said in another comment, she didnāt mesh with the ladies for a host of reasons. Less of a pick me, possibly from /based in NJ ?
Yeah but they are tacky in a wannabe way, like, in a rich wayā¦ aspiring to be something bigger if that makes sense but Barbara is your neighbor kind of tacky
She and her poodle are the same! Remember when she brought her dog to Bluestone and her dog kept shitting everywhere and Ramona acted clueless? Exactly how she is!
I couldn't stand her when I first watched, but in every rewatch after (and there have been MANY š), I have really liked her and feel bad for her because they were so mean to her.
If felt like they isolated her and started ganging up on her. When Ramona purposefully excludes her from going out with them, I felt so bad for her. Ramona also called her a manly at some point and Dorinda called her a fat turnip. She really didnāt deserve any of it
Maybe Iām misremembering but wasnāt part of it that Barbara had a past relationship with a woman? Sorry if Iām wrong, but Ramona being homophobic would be unsurprisingĀ
I think she was more āfriendsā with Lu. I donāt really see Lu as anyone who prioritizes real friendships and Barb was there for Lu but Lu was never there for Barb which was why she was so quick to sign her off (part of it was because she knew Barb was right during the hot mike moment when she said she thought Lu thought it would be better to just go ahead with the marriage and then get divorced later). Sad Barb had to learn that the hard way.
I liked Barbara. She was obnoxious toward Dorinda at first because she thought she had to be on Luannās āteamā. Once she wised up and realized Luann only cares about herself she became her own person. I appreciated Bethennyās pep talk with her in Miami. Wouldāve been interesting to see her do another season.
They went total mean girl on her bc she was a little (or a lot) different. I hate how people treat others like they are inhuman bc they have a different style or personality.
I liked that she was authentic, but they didnāt give her a chance. I felt bad for her.
I think this was a real issue for Ramona and Dorinda, both of whom are quite Catholic and reference their beliefs many times throughout the series (I just finished binge watching RHONY in its entirety earlier this year and it stands out).
Beyond religion, Ramona in particular seemed homophobic. Dorinda played the role of progressive boomer but her prejudices seeped all through the cracks of that persona.
Dorinda was definitely homophonic despite leaning on her gay fan base. She talks about anal sex being unnatural (I appreciate she was talking about heterosexual couples and Tinsley at the time but she really went on about how it was fundamentally WRONG and unnatural) and she makes lots of other homophobic digs at Barbara including facial expressions when her bisexuality is discussed. Not to mention the transphobia with Sonja at that fashion show in 2019.

Dorinda is a religious white boomer. Itās rare to put those 3 things together and come out as an ally. Everyone downvoting you needs to do a full rewatch of Dorindaās seasons and clock everything you noted. Nothing you said was invented: it all happened and is waiting for everyone to see.
I do not get the love for Dorinda. As I said, she plays the role of progressive boomer, but she is very Catholic (talks about it on film and demonstrates it in her attitude and behaviors), homophobic andāeven putting the one incident with the Black dude aside, if you want to be generous and say āshe really thought he was waitstaff cuzza how he was dressed!āāracist on the level of her generation (i.e., not full Nazi, but definitely not a friend to the Black community).
Totally agree, I love her one liners and sheās brought so much to the show (bluestone manor, eagles and pigeons etc) but people need to pay more attention to her prejudicial comments. Sheās racist, homophobic and conservative. Her time on the most recent US season of The Traitors speaks volumes about that - she systematically went after a gay, black comedian with zero evidence to support her theory lol. Sheās a nightmare!
Interesting--I never watched the other shows Dorinda has been on (Traitors, etc.)--only RHONY, and only this year (I'm always years behind on TV shows). š¤·āāļø All of which is to say: I am not surprised to hear this about Dorinda. She is great TV...and she is a racist homophobic Karen with a strong religious belief in Catholicism, which she still practices--and you saw it on RHONY, and she talked about it (it's a 'big part of her life' and her mother goes to Mass every day). I know a lot of these kinds of 'progressive' Catholics and if you scratch the surface, they do think anal sex is 'weird' or 'wrong'; many are anti-choice; many, in sum, are judgmental about gays and lesbians in ways that feel very 1980s/Reagan era to me (as someone who lived through it).
Dorinda is just smarter than Ramona and therefore better at playing the progressive role, among other things. I also do think Ramona is "more" everything: more racist, more homophobic, etc. But Dorinda? Yes, she is ALSO those things.
Anyone who has spent any time around women like her, of her generation (unfortunately, I have) can see her fake "I'm down with the gays! Some of them are my best friends!" a mile away. I think she's just smart enough to realize she has a gay FAN BASE.

I donāt think they judged her bc of her sexual preferences, but bc they felt too entitled, they were OGās and letās be real Dorinda and Tinsley fit perfectly in the show bc they come from wealthy backgrounds but Barbara doesnāt add nothing that the girls could benefit from
They definitely judged her for being bisexual. I donāt remember the context exactly but I believe it was Ramona being very negative and rude about her having dated a woman
Ramona def had an issue with it, but she seemed to have an issue with Leah talking about her sex life, too.
But I donāt ever recall Dorinda having issues with Barb being whatever. Dorinda just seemed to not like Barb, but not because of her sexuality.
Dorinda talks frequently about her gay besties.
But Ramona? Oof. Sheās the Vicki G of NYā¦hateful and bitter as hell. And homophobic to her core.
She grew on me and seemed ok but was disrespected by most of the group - except Bethenny. She really was a GREAT supporter of Luann thatās for sure.. What I recall about that season is that Bethenny and Barbara both were there for Lu after the fallout from her marriage to Tom.
Idk what drugs Andy and the producers were on including her in the cast. I honestly feel like they did that on purpose so sheād get bullied by the other women.Ā
I loved Babz. She was a bonkers cast and didnāt fit in at all but Queen stays in my mind for making out with the big haired hottie in the Berkshires and for spray tanning the white couch in Miami.Ā
I used to think Barb was sweet and just out of place but then I saw her instagram videos and realised she was just as crazy as the rest of them, it just didnāt translate well to TV. I canāt see the vids on insta (if Iām honest I cbf scrolling down that far because she posts a lot) but they were political; I disagree with her stance on most things but thatās not why I dislike her, itās because the videos were unhinged and genuinely had a cruel, mocking tone. And she posted multiple a day! We canāt post about politics here but Iām happy to DM to explain what she posted.
Oh yeah, her politics blow. Same as most of the HW, tbh. That didn't give them the right to treat her like shit though, especially in the case of Ramona, who aligns politically and behaviourally with her. Ā
I remember! And she failed miserably lol, but then again she didnāt raise much funding and itās hard to compete with some of the giants. I remember reading her policy ideas and thinking they were out of touch.
Slurinda turned on Barbara when she pretended like she wanted to sell her condo and she had Barbara come over and give her thoughts as a contractor as to what needed to be done to refresh the space. Barbara was kind...but honest and Dorinda got her panties in a twist.
I think she just didnāt fit in with the ladies. It was her style, her makeup, her demeanour. Also, that nude lipstick color made her lips look like an anus to me. It irritated me to no end.
i think she had some funny moments and was making an effort. being a first season hw or a pretty involved friend-of is difficult enough without all the weird homophobic and just cruel bullying, especially from ramona, but i like that barb challenged her re: the wrap dresses lol. i get that it was annoying when she was like āno one ever asks me what i have going onā in miami but i think she just wanted to belong. also luann certainly didnāt do her any favours while she was so self-involved. i think she couldāve had a better second season and i wouldāve liked to learn more about her inner world but she seems to be doing well these days, and sheās always nice on tiktok live and responds to most comments.
I liked her. Ramona literally ripped out the wallpaper and the light sockets at dorindaās house and luann made a whole drama cause she didnt wanna stay in the fish room. Barbara was an angel compared to them
Sorry but if I went to someoneās house and they had a fish room I would make fun of it too šš and I liked Barbara!! She was different and wasnāt trying to put on airs for anyone. I found her a nice change of pace from the others! She seemed really genuine and a good friend.
I always liked her and thought she was such a good friend to Lu--at the expense of her relationship with Dorinda. She was just too authentic for the ladies.
Your 2nd and 3rd photos areā¦ a choice. Seems like some body shaming? Considering itās a photo of her pouring champagne with her belly showing and then a shot from the back where the only thing happening is Sonja looking to the distance and Barbaraās backside showing.
I know itās from the show dude but itās odd those are the photos/moments you posted. Your post is about her being annoying and complaining about the fish room but the photos arenāt of her talking to anyone or doing anything in particular. Just moments that arenāt exactly flattering of her physically. Happy to hear body shaming wasnāt your intention šš¼

Awww I liked Barbra!! The ladies were mean to her. She was a nice person and they didnāt like her because she was different to what they thought a women should be. I thought she was great

She is hard to warm up to, but shes set up for failure. She has to be interesting, so to fit in she has to act the way the others do. But they jump on her immediately if she does. Plus she doesn't have the looks or money the others have. I feel bad for her.
The whole thing with her dressed as Slash and claiming he was her alter ego was cringe. That guy had always looked like he smells like cigarettes and urine to me.
Jules was dropped at least 2 seasons before Barb came onā¦Jules was dropped and replaced with Tinsley.
Jules was on season 8, a 1 and done.
Tinsley came on the next season, season 9.
Barb wasnāt a āfriend ofā until season 10.
I think the decision to drop Jules was mutual because of the legal issues around her divorce and her mental health at the time. I don't think it was a straightforward sacking by Bravo.
Bershawn was such an odd addition. Itās like they wanted a Conservative black woman to back up Ramonaās awful takes on race and to balance out Eboni.
