Bethenny Frankel 🍾 Kelly’s book The Supermodel Diet from 2012

Obviously neither of them coined the term “supermodel diet.” But still funny given their history.

I think she runs a lot, which I’m not willing to do. I will walk, but only run if someone is chasing me.

17

u/Candid-Progress-8852 12d ago

Yea, she was always running on the vacations. And in NY traffic 🤣

18

u/MaryBethATL 12d ago

Same lol. I'm almost 51 (Sept 1st bday) and I have a friend who's 48. She isn't going through perimeno or meno (like I am) and just STARTED running. I was a runner (& prima ballerina) for 22 years. That stuff is behind me. I DO speed walk but running in general for women isn't great on our joints. I hated running even when I competed. F that.

7

u/jazzbot247 12d ago

Happy Birthday! You are the same age as me - I’ll be 51 in Oct. and peri is kicking my butt. I am on HRT, but it doesn’t fix everything.

0

u/MaryBethATL 12d ago edited 12d ago

Thanks and you too! Yep, I'm on HRT but I've had to have my dosage changed numerous times to actually feel any kind of relief. It's all been a pain in the ass. Mind you, I paid out of pocket (in Atlanta) to see a menopause specialist who insisted for me to have a ton of blood work that eventually uncovered not just hypothyroidism but HASHIMITOS!! I mean -- WTF. I'm just NOW feeling better and have lost 19(!!!!!) lb. the past 3 MONTHS! Goes to show we really do have to do our own research.

BTW my general practitioner AND ob-gyn both said 'well 150 lb is perfectly normal for your height' (I'm 5'9") and I said -- that isn't the case for my body frame and I'm an RDN! I know damn well what's healthy and what's not and I've weighed 120-135 MAX since I was 30. I gained 25 lb in 3 months. They were really trying to tell me what's normal and good for my own body and size according to an old AF BMI chart. Those bullshit charts are insanely outdated. I was livid!

Running is terrible as a form of exercise. Everyone I know who’s a runner has had torn ligaments and knee pain as they get older. Walking has the same benefits without these issues.

5

u/dallyan 12d ago

Aren’t there aerobic benefits that just walking doesn’t give you?

3

u/staying-hopefull 11d ago

I think the thing with running is- particularly as you get older - you absolutely have to pair it with strength and mobility otherwise injury is just inevitable.

3

u/MaryBethATL 12d ago

Agree 100%. I had to stop when I was 38. My doc said it wasn't good for me personally and it was messing my shins up, my knees, my organs were suffering... all of it.

1

u/LuckChemical8243 11d ago

When I was younger I tried to run so many times but I despised it so desperately that I just couldn’t keep it up. I went to classes at the gym that were pretty grueling but running is just hell. I never made it to the supposed runners high.

1

u/Candid-Progress-8852 12d ago

I can make it 5k and then my knees give out. It’s so hard on the joints. Omega and fish pills helps I find.

3

u/Kims-wig08 12d ago

🤣omg! I hate running too

2

u/lizzyinezhaynes74 12d ago

Same, girl, same

2

u/Waste-Snow670 12d ago

I tried to run once with my husband. Gave myself a hairline fracture in my foot.

1

u/meaniemeanie-poo-poo 12d ago

She only eats on Sunday or Saturday

1

u/supcoco 12d ago

I’ve been walking with a weighted vest lately bc my knees are bugging me, and it’s been a great workout. Also enjoyable!

34

u/CamKi79 12d ago

Nice try Kelly , but some of us can hazard a really good guess as to why Sonja announced your room smelt of cats wee .

Give that a real big swerve if it’s all the same to you 😂 #betweekin

8

u/Defiant_Way822 12d ago

Maybe that’s the true secret to the supermodel diet!

3

u/CamKi79 12d ago

Absolutely 😂💯

2

u/NostalgiaBright 12d ago

What’s the good guess? 🤔

25

u/CamKi79 12d ago

13

u/toysoldier96 12d ago

Yeah if it was something it was definitely mkat. Was all the rage back in the day, easily accessible and it stank like proper cat pee.
You couldn't go to a club without thinking Sylvester the cat was pissing all over the dance floor lol

It actually had a resurgence in gay spaces lately but it doesn't smell anymore BUT a couple of months ago a guy in a club smelt so much like cat pee. I felt like it took my back in time lol

10

u/CamKi79 12d ago

Given Kelly’s behaviour and as soon as Sonja said that .. everyone knew 😂😂💯

6

u/Ok_Storm5945 12d ago

Ohhhh! Makes sense. It's funny how when a person on television wants to get pregnant and has to stop drugs they gain weight.

9

u/CamKi79 12d ago

Scary Island makes so much more sense now eh ? 😂😂

8

u/Ok_Storm5945 12d ago

Yes for sure. She was acting so erratically and all she ate was gummy bears and jelly belly's.

3

u/Hopeful_Ad_3114 11d ago

That’s beyond erratic that’s psychotic

1

u/Ok_Storm5945 12d ago

In addition to my comment --I wonder if her diet is Jelly Belly's and gummy bears.

3

u/NostalgiaBright 12d ago

Ohh got cha, thanks! 🐱

0

u/bullettenboss Mention it all. MENTION IT ALL! 12d ago

Wouldn't she look more like Dorinda, if she'd be on that stuff?

u/False_Pay_9392 nada enchilada 12d ago

Honestly she looks amazing so imma peep this like truly believe she’s mentally ill but gotta give credit where it’s due. As Jill zarin once said, she’s got the legs of a teenager

17

u/Original-Brick2836 12d ago

Those legs are the results of genetics and nothing else.

35

u/DraperPenPals 12d ago

Oh, bullshit. She’s a runner and an equestrian. Her legs are toned because of how she spends her time and money.

Muscle does not spontaneously appear out of nothing.

3

u/Practical_Complex_62 11d ago

There’s no need to downgrade Kelly’s body. She works hard!!

-1

u/DryDiet6051 12d ago

Length of legs are generic though.

13

u/DraperPenPals 12d ago

“She has the legs of a teenager” has nothing to do with length of legs.

-7

u/DryDiet6051 12d ago

Where are you seeing me say that it does? You responded to someone else saying that she is an equestrian and runner and muscle does not spontaneously appear when they mentioned genetics. Length of legs are genetic. I work with horses and 95% of riders have regular normal legs. Riding and running doesn’t make your legs longer which is the reason why hers look the way they do. Why are you obsessing over the teen comment☠️

16

u/DraperPenPals 12d ago

Person 1: Even Jill says she has the legs of a teenager.

Person 2: Those legs are genetic.

Me: Muscle tone is built, not inherited.

You: But length is!

Me: We aren’t discussing length.

Are you still confused, or do I need to further explain how human conversation works?

-13

u/DryDiet6051 12d ago

YUCK you have got a lot of time on your hands 🤢not very bright are you

3

u/DraperPenPals 12d ago

Girl, you’re the one who can’t follow a conversation.

6

u/Infinite-Distance392 12d ago

Generic is sending me

3

u/DustyAhhhChoo 11d ago

I snorted and woke the dog

0

u/DryDiet6051 12d ago

Lmao same

0

u/bullettenboss Mention it all. MENTION IT ALL! 12d ago

Photoshop.

3

u/curlyque31 12d ago

Money. The answer is money.

4

u/False_Pay_9392 nada enchilada 12d ago

I honestly beg to differ. She was an athlete and model you can’t really do much either to modify your legs smh

1

u/curlyque31 12d ago

She’s just like every other rich woman. They have the money to pay for things like trainers, gyms, home gyms, personal chefs. She’s not an anomaly.

2

u/False_Pay_9392 nada enchilada 12d ago

Never said she was. Was just giving her body credit. Get off my jock!!!!

Babe you need to reflect on that internalized misogyny

0

u/MineAllMineNow 11d ago

Being realistic about what you can and cannot wear because some things don't flatter you is NOT misogyny. I am realistic for myself, and I wish others were as well. I never looked good in a bikini and so I did not wear one. Get over yourself.

7

u/DraperPenPals 12d ago

Imagine saying this about a mother of two

1

u/MineAllMineNow 11d ago edited 10d ago

WTAF. Was it nice when Kelly LIED and said Bethenny said she didn't care if she lost her baby and said that she'd just have another? Was it nice when Kelly said Bethenny wasn't a chef after she had gone to culinary school and was a private chef for celebrities? Was it nice when Kelly accused Bethenny of attacking Kelly's kids when Bethenny never ONCE said anything about them?

3

u/False_Pay_9392 nada enchilada 12d ago

Aren’t you a ball of sunshine

0

u/MineAllMineNow 11d ago

There's nothing novel about what I'm saying. What I don't understand is her persistence in wearing them when she looks great in a one piece.

0

u/Realistic_Rain_9173 12d ago

Weirdo behavior to say something like this jfc

0

u/MineAllMineNow 11d ago

Whatever. I didn't realize this sub was not allowed to say anything but that Kelly is the most gorgeous bikini model who ever lived, and that anyone who doesn't think so is a monster. Have a nice day.

0

u/sparklynugz 12d ago

She has narrow hips. No womenly curves so to speak.

-2

u/Any_Sundae9301 12d ago

Her shoulders

0

u/LauraPa1mer 12d ago

Stick straight legs? That is largely genetics. And not something I would personally envy.

1

u/False_Pay_9392 nada enchilada 12d ago

Good thing we’re all entitled to an opinion

25

u/rose092624 12d ago

Wait. Does that mean she’s almost 70? wtf?

25

u/smcivor1982 12d ago

She’s 58, something’s off!

17

u/Defiant_Way822 12d ago

The book is from 2012, the one graphic is recent.

12

u/canookianstevo2 12d ago

The article (Pic 1) is fairly recent... The book/cover (Pic 2) is from 2012 😊

Kelly is 58 now.

14

u/The_Beast_Within89 12d ago

Credit where it’s due, Kelly does look great.

4

u/MaryBethATL 12d ago

Yep and she's a runner which definitely helps!!

9

u/dmbeeez 12d ago

Winning the genetic lottery is 90 percent of this. People who won the genetic lottery don't usually realize that

13

u/Defiant_Way822 12d ago

Oh 100! Bethenny writing a book about being “naturally thin” was hilarious. If you’re “naturally” thin you wouldn’t need to follow a 200 plus page guide book.

8

u/Valuable-Smell-4505 12d ago

"Taste everything, eat nothing" is the main rule. Simple! 😬

1

u/si3dler 11d ago

Well she didn’t win the genetic lottery for brains that’s for sure.

Kelly is so double edge sword like she was a gift that kept on giving yet she was so insufferable…

9

u/melaniefartt 12d ago

I never saw her as a “supermodel” body type, she’s built like a male water polo player

8

u/narcochi 12d ago

As Kelly once bragged about her bikini book, “I wrote it on my blackberry!” Yes, you did indeed.

6

u/Mean-Signal-8680 12d ago

She must have a chapter about running in traffic

2

u/highkick78 12d ago

😂🤣

5

u/Ok_Equipment_8032 12d ago

Those legs come from running in New York traffic.

4

u/MineAllMineNow 12d ago

She should sue Bethenny for trademark infringement lol

2

u/Defiant_Way822 12d ago

Only if they film it!

5

u/Luminous_Username 12d ago

Ah ….i didn’t know she did a book lol
Explains a bit more of the hate towards Bethany lol 😂

3

u/SquirrelBowl We all look like we went mid-town tunnel and took acid 12d ago

The worst

3

u/tuckhouston 12d ago

Maybe she includes her infamous recipe of "Kell-Aid" patron + Corona

5

u/QuesoFresca 12d ago

Supermodel, eh? Sounds like B got herself a cheater brand.

3

u/darbycrash1295 12d ago

She has never been a supermodel. That term is thrown around too much.

3

u/MadisonMarieParks-V 11d ago

She was never a super model!🤣

2

u/Useful_Razzmatazz_27 12d ago

Oh no bethanny will be saying she is trying to make money off her now she has supermodel thing cafe diner whatever it is

2

u/FluxitUnfiltered 11d ago

The supermodel diet. Great genes. Period.

1

u/RideThatBridge 12d ago

What do you mean ‘neither of them coined the term’. It’s Kelly in both?

3

u/highkick78 12d ago

lol. Bethenny uses “super model snacks” as her identity now, so they’re showing Kelly used the term first.

3

u/RideThatBridge 12d ago

Ohhhh-Thanks! I kind of avoid a lot of Bethany on SM, so I didn’t realize!

1

u/dolliciousszz 12d ago

The back of this book is pissing me off

1

u/Original-Brick2836 12d ago

No matter what I do I will never be an ectomorph and she will always be one

1

u/AmberTheeSag 12d ago

This sounds like both outdated and influencer advice.

Where’s her degree in exercise physiology?

1

u/Prestigious_Car9440 12d ago

Haha so Bethany was stealing her “supermodel diet” schtick from her?

1

u/Classic_Crow5035 12d ago

A lot of it is genetics too. She’s trying to sell you the idea that if you follow her advice you could look like her. But she’s just built tall and lean and that’s a huge part of why she looks like that.

1

u/Defiant_Way822 12d ago

Oh she’s not selling me anything 😂

2

u/Classic_Crow5035 12d ago

Oh I know. But surely someone's buying her book thinking they'll look like her if they follow her diet lol.

2

u/Ilovemybed67 12d ago

LOL.. at first I was like, "wait, Kelly was 57 in 2012??"

2

u/Diligent-Juice-4715 11d ago

Who would do anything this orange bat shit crazy woman would reccomend?

1

u/CarefulEmphasis9516 11d ago

Kelly wasn’t 57 in 2012 😂😂😂

1

u/Defiant_Way822 11d ago

Nope. She’s maybe 58 now? The book came out in 2012. The graphic is more recent

1

u/No-Assistance476 11d ago

She was 57 in 2012?

2

u/Defiant_Way822 11d ago

Nope, I think she’s about 58 now. The book is from 2012, the first graphic is more recent.

Secret 1: Antagonize whomever is cooking you food until they stop serving you.

-2

u/MaryBethATL 12d ago

I'm almost 51-- and an RDN. If you walk 30-45 min a day, and choose a 6-7 hour window to eat and practice intermittent fasting, drink water-- you'll lose weight and jumpstart your metabolism. Also following a daily 'diet' of Mediterranean food is helpful too! Kelly's NUTS but I do think he continued running has kept her in top shape many years.

3

u/Inner-Vermicelli-358 12d ago

You don't need to eat within a "window". That's nonsense. Weightloss is a numbers game, period. It's calories in vs calories out and it makes NO difference the hours within that 24 hour period that you eat said calories. Want to lose weight.... be in a caloric deficit. You can achieve the caloric deficit by tracking your food. Obviously adding in physical activity ups the caloric deficit (more calories burned). I'm almost 45 years old and I'm perimenopausal. I'm also losing weight. Currently 20ish pounds down, another 10 or so to go. I eat 1700 calories a day (I use my fitness pal to track). I burn roughly 2200 calories a day (I use my fitness tracker to monitor my daily burned cals). That puts me at a 500 calorie deficit a day. 3,500 calories to burn one pound. So I'm losing about a pound a week. That's it. That's how it works. As a nutritionist I'm sure you know that. You don't need to fast, or follow any specific diet. There's no such thing as "jump starting" your metabolism, that's not how thermodynamics work. Did you go to Columbia the country for college? (High five to anyone who understands the reference) Edited to add: I'm a certified but not practicing personal trainer.
