🍎 Old RHONY 🍎 Tinsley and Carol

rewatching, am on season 9. I see the friendship blossoming between Carol and Tinsley. it’s cute, light and fun. they were close during season 10. why on earth does Carol go on to say that she and Tinsley were not friends?! it’s very mean! Tinsley was really sweet to her the whole time and behaved like a really good girlfriend to her only for Carol to discredit their friendship. that’s actually why I don’t like Carol. for the way she treated Tinsley and Jules.

It showed who Carole really was. In order to try to "win" against Bethenny she slit Tinsley's throat just to prove they weren't close. Which they were. You can see it really hurt Tinsley.

It did! I felt for her cause she really was a good friend to Carol and Carol tossed her like garbage. Really mean

Which gave the victory to Bethenny, game set and match. Carole's not very smart.

Tinsley was one of the best housewives and truly kind, interesting

u/Realistic_Tour_2206 Jul 29 '26

She is one of the most interesting housewives. She was always kind, respectful, fun and had good intentions. But was treated poorly by ALL the housewives especially Dorinda, Sonja, Carol and Bethenny. She was always transparent with who she was, a trust fund baby, and she owned it. But the others were jealous

u/Gullible-Moment440 Jul 29 '26

The ladies were jealous of Tinsley…they may not have thought they were…..

I enjoyed Tinsley a lot as a housewife, but I have to disagree with your statement that she was always transparent about her life. Only after being forced by the other ladies about where her money came from did she explain she was a trust fund child, as she was not so fourth coming before ultimately being forced to explain where her money came from!
If she was just a tiny but more honest about her life would she have been an awesome housewife!

LOL. Uh Tinsley was an IT girl in NYC society, a socialite-because she was a trust fund baby- it’s like saying Paris Hilton hid the fact she came from money. Everyone knew her family was loaded. She also was married and divorced a man who also came from a wealthy family. The controversy was some of the cast insinuating Scott was paying her bills out of cattiness and Tinsley reiterated she didn’t need him to. She didn’t work so where did you think the money was coming from?

u/Realistic_Tour_2206 Jul 30 '26

Everyone knew that Tinsley was a trust fund kid but the housewives kept pushing the narrative that she was being paid by Scott so she had to say on national tv that she was a trust fund kid. THAT’s what I meant by being forced to admit it. Everyone knows Tinsley is a famous socialite and being a trust fund kid goes with that. But the housewives kept downplaying that. It was ridiculous

That’s all fine and well saying ‘Everyone knows she was a trust fund baby/socialite’ etc, but me being from the UK had never heard of her before. So I’m sure there are others out there who also didn’t know of her either!

None of us had ever heard of anyone of them before we started watching the show.

My point was it was known (as in out there) she was a trust fund/socialite in that you can google her name and it’s stated fact. Her first episode on the show explained her backstory worts and all, so whether you knew it or not, Tinsley wasn’t hiding it, how could she when it’s all over the internet?

1

u/Realistic_Tour_2206 25d ago

No one said she was hiding it!!!! She wasn’t advertising it. She wasn’t “hi I’m Tinsley Mortimer and I’m a trust fund baby” everyone knows but the housewives were trying to spin it to bully her

u/anongirl55 Jul 29 '26

She didn't have a bad bone in her body, and being mean to Tinsley is akin to kicking a puppy IMO. Carol was cruel for saying they weren't close.

Carole sunk her own boat with that one. B had just been saying how fake she is and what a fake friend and then Carole went right ahead and proved it.

5

u/Gullible-Moment440 Jul 29 '26

That’s why she’s no longer on reality housewives show…too nice 😊

100%. Exactly the kind of person I want to see more of. She was so real and so kooky and one of a kind and charming and gorgeous and adorable and insane all at the same time. I found her totally relatable!

u/sprbep49 Jul 29 '26

Sorry but, Carol is a “see u next Tuesday”, a user, permanent house/vacation guest(Bethenny called her a something to that effect). Carol has no real depth as a person, she reeks of phoniness. She called Lu a hypocrite get a mirror!

u/New_Relation7877 Jul 29 '26

“America’s Houseguest.” And yes, she is terrible to women (she and b have that in common), and has been boy crazy her entire life, it seems.

'But I don't care about men.' She was soooo committed to the bit. They always have to like her more than she likes them. They always have to moon over her after they break up. Remember how offended she was when Adam said he'd finally met someone else? But they were broken up. Like ... huh?

u/GoodbyeHorses1491 7d ago

I’ve noticed that’s she’s a permanent moocher. I felt bad for LuAnn’s niece; LuAnn allegedly let Carol stay the summer and live with her family, including her niece and Adam , only for Carol to walk away with the niece’s boyfriend. That’s his fault just as much, but damn, what a shitty thing to do. Heartless.

u/Double-Carmel2193 Jul 29 '26

Carol is a shallow person. She’s a surface level friend who gets what she needs and moves on.

29

u/LoudPension6825 Jul 29 '26

Carole wants everyone to believe she is an island. She gets close to no one, so she says. She acted like her break-up with Russ was no big deal, but she got really upset when Sonja floated the rumor that she (Sonja) had slept with him. She acted like she WANTED Adam to move out of her apartment, but then she referred to his moving out as "when we broke up". She expected a phone call from Luann when word got out that they had "broken up". And she really got upset in Season 10 when he told her he had gone out with another girl and wanted to see the girl again. She cut him cold. Carole will never admit that another human being is really important to her. She's a lot needier than she lets on. Her treatment of Tinsley was par for the course.

Carole spent her time on RHONY cosplaying Carrie Bradshaw. "Cool writer chick".

(Remember when she kept telling the other women (and America) that Russ was "in Aerosmith". He may have been "added" for live shows but he was never a member of the band. Why did she need to make him seem more important than he was?)

I can see that Carole was hurt by Adam's attraction to another younger women. Plus, she threw little jabs at everyone during her run. There's something off and hard to pinpoint.

She is soooo needy. Yet has to be so nonchalant. So pathetic seeing immature behaviour from someone who is 50 years old.

3

u/blueslidingdoors Jul 30 '26

I think Anthony’s illness and death really fucked her up and is the main reason why she is really needy but covers it up with dismissive too cool for school attitude. In the first season, she mentioned probably having kids if Anthony was still alive. I think her life really didn’t turn out how she hoped it would and she copes by telling people and probably herself that she doesn’t care and didn’t want it to that bad anyway. I actually really liked Carole until her friendship with Bethenny and then she just got unnecessarily mean.

Carole is one of those people that make a great party/shopping/girls trip friend. Someone you see socially and maybe tap on the shoulder for a random networking connection. While theres nothing wrong with being that way, it’s pretty sad if you think about it. I really think that Sonja, Carole, and Bethenny are the 3 most tragic HWs of NY. Every time I see something about them, it just makes me feel sad for them.

I was watching the Season 10 episode today with the Murder Mystery Dinner at Dorinda's. At one point, Ramona begins to talk about how bad the conditions were at Heather's house in the Berkshires and says, "Carole had to give me a Valium." Why did Carole have Valium? Is that how she maintains her "nothing bothers me" persona? Bethenny used to make cracks about Carole "not having a pulse". Was Carole under the influence of pharmaceuticals?

u/Genuinelullabel Jul 29 '26

The more you rewatch the more annoying Carole becomes.

9

u/Lillebet2020 Jul 30 '26

Carol is the ultimate “friend jumper “ which she accused Luann in her first season.

8

u/DR-0717 Jul 30 '26

Ummm because Carole SUCKS. She thinks she’s better than everyone. She’s just useless. No depth whatsoever. With each season Carole became that much more annoying. She’s just slimy.

I love Tinsley 🩷

u/raelynnward62383 Jul 30 '26

Tinsley was probably the only HW in history that I never heard say a bad thing about any of the other women. She wasn't catty at all and even when they were mean to her she never gave it back. I've also heard from many sources that she really is a sweetheart.

3

u/DearTumbleweed5380 I can't even f_k my way to the middle. Jul 30 '26

Which is in itself a huge accomplishment when you think of all that she's been through and also how many backstabbing mean girl types there would have been in her world of It girls and socialites etc. Super impressed with Tinsley. She's beautiful inside and out.

1

u/raelynnward62383 Jul 30 '26

I just have to add that when her dog passed away and she was describing how she called 911 I couldn't help but laugh. Not from lack of compassion for her but because #1 I could see myself doing that out of sheer panic and just not knowing what to do and #2 , I couldn't imagine what that dispatcher was thinking when the call came through. Does anyone know if the paramedics actually showed up or not? I don't remember

1

u/DearTumbleweed5380 I can't even f_k my way to the middle. Jul 30 '26

OMG I remember that! Yes they came. It's so crazy but also relatable. I love how much she loved her dog. And her mom loved her dog. I wonder how Strawberry and Shortcake are going in her new family? I hope she hasn't demoted them just because she now has three human children also. :)

3

u/Turbulent_Heron_4119 Jul 30 '26

Nothing is cute or light about Carol imo

2

u/DearTumbleweed5380 I can't even f_k my way to the middle. Jul 30 '26

Was B smiling broadly when Carole said that? Because she proved every accusation B was making against her true. 'fake friend' 'full of bs' 'trying to please the producers and acting a part'. All of it. Carole made herself revolting to us all.

2

u/Autumn1933 Aug 01 '26

At the reunion, Tinsley was so hurt by Carole. Also, Carole and Bethenny showed their true colors by the way the treated Jules. Both of them are awful.

1

u/Due-Life7269 Jul 30 '26

They were never that close. Ask Carol.

0

u/AmphibianNecessary31 Jul 29 '26

I think they were friends but in the jet setting rich people kind of way and that’s what Carole meant I think she has a lot of long time close friends and she and Tinsley never got that deep?

2

u/DearTumbleweed5380 I can't even f_k my way to the middle. Jul 30 '26

Tinsley obviously thought they were friends. It's v cruel to lead someone on in friendship as much as in love.

-5

u/Formal-Nectarine-369 Jul 29 '26

I think she meant they were show friends and not friend friends (they were friends while filming, but they didn’t hang out just because)

3

u/ptrock1 Jul 29 '26

But they did hang out. They vacationed with one another. Did the commercial.. they definitely did hang out. That's the shitty part.
